The Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 eSports team is delighted to announce the final line-up that will compete in the F1 eSports series this year.

The Swiss team, which has partnered with leading organisation Veloce Esports, will field Salih and Sonuç Saltunç – the only two brothers competing in this year’s tournament – alongside Dutch racer Allert van der Wal. Together, the trio forms a highly-rated line-up of drivers who all made the 2017 finals in Abu Dhabi last year.

The Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 eSports team also welcomes Phelipe Reis (“Zoom”). The 18-year-old Brazilian is one of the world’s best Forza drivers and currently leads the ForzaRC Championship, with the Series 2 playoffs taking place in Mexico next month.

In Formula One, Sauber has a rich history of nurturing young talent and helping them reach their full potential, having worked with aces like Michael Schumacher, Sebastian Vettel and now with rising star Charles Leclerc. Now, it is the team’s aim to continue this trend within the eSports arena, starting with its new selection of online competitors.

The two Saltunç brothers and Allert van del Walt have already started training at the Veloce Esports headquarter in London but this week will be quite special for them. On the occasion of the F1 Milan show and the 2018 FIA Formula One Italian Grand Prix at Monza, they will meet the media and the fans.

They will also have the chance to demonstrate their racing skills and to challenge the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team drivers Charles Leclerc and Marcus Ericsson on the brand new 2018 F1 Game.

Salih Saltunç:

The elder of the two Saltunç brothers, 22-year-old Salih has been at the sharp end of official F1 Game leagues for many years and is a four-time Xbox world champion. Away from racing, Salih is currently studying Aerospace Engineering at the University of Central Lancashire in Britain.

Sonuç Saltunç:

Sonuç enters the 2018 F1 eSports Series looking to build on a strong 2017 campaign that saw him reach the finals in Abu Dhabi alongside his brother. With the support of Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 eSports and Veloce Esports this season, Sonuç will be among the favourites to give his brother a close run for the title.

Allert van der Wal:

Allert may have only started league racing in 2017 but the Dutchman’s catalogue of victories in national eSports competitions led him to reach last year’s F1 eSports final alongside new teammates Salih and Sonuç. The 20-year-old will be hoping to make the most of his smooth and clean driving style in competition once again this season as he gets to work with his new team.

Frédéric Vasseur, CEO and Team Principal Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team:

“Sauber has a proud history of helping young drivers become champions and we are continuing this tradition in the most modern way with the launch of our new eSports team. We are excited to bring over 40 years of expertise in racing to a new generation of motorsport.”

Jamie MacLaurin, Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 eSports Team Manager and Veloce Esports Founder:

“We are delighted to have Salih, Sonuc and Allert on board and feel we have one of the strongest driver line-ups on the grid. With Sauber’s expertise in growing young talent and Veloce’s extensive knowledge of the eSports scene, we are confident that we can hit the ground running this season.”
