Seat Eurocup to support WTCC in 2008

Next year will see a new support series for the FIA WTCC.
The SEAT León EuroCup is a new championship born from the Supercópa SEAT León and will join the WTCC for six meetings in 2008, in Spain, France, Portugal, Germany, UK and Italy.

SEAT Sport claimed an impressive 1-2-3 in qualifying at Monza in Italy. Yvan Muller posted a stunning 1:59.487 in the second half of the session to give the diesel powered León its first pole.

The fastest lap of the second free practice session came courtsey of James Thompson.The Alfa Romeo N.technology driver"s fastest lap was 2:00.898.
He held the top spot for most of the session thanks to an early lap of 2:00.976 that he eventually managed to improve by one tenth.

CHEVROLET TO REMAIN IN THE WTCC
Chevrolet confirmed that it will remain in the FIA WTCC beyond 2007, and the RML team will continue to run the works squad.
The manufacturer joined the series in 2005, and after improved performance during each year, Chevrolet Europe has decided to stay in the series beyond its original three-year agreement.

Entmutigend war der Trip nach Barcelona für das GU-RACING TEAM. Obwohl das Wochenende viel versprechend mit den Plätzen 3 für Jens Höing und 4 für Max Wissel im freien Training angefangen hatte, sprang am Ende kein wirklich zählbares Ergebnis für das bayrische Team heraus. The Swiss man stole pole from the grasp of James Thompson who set a superb 1:33.032 on his first flying lap.The field had a task on their hands to beat it. He drove his N.technology Alfa Romeo around the Kent track in 1:33.518 to demote Pierre-Yves Corthals to second.
