Germany actually moved from white to silver over its racing years. In the 1920s and 1930s, Germany was designated the white colour.

However, in the late1930s Mercedes Benz and Auto Union decided to leave their cars unpainted. This gave rise to the use of silver to represent Germany. Interestingly though, the main reason why they opted for silver has been lost over the cause of history. But some speculate that they wanted to make their cars seem a bit more light.






•    Italy's Rosso Corsa.


In 1917, a race from Pekin to Paris was organized and the winner of the race was Italian nobleman named Prince Scipione Borghese. He won the race in a 1907 Italy vehicle. In the vehicle, he had his press agent, valet and a case of champagne.


His victory was what led to the Italians adopting the crimson red colour.
