Red Bull Esports Team - back on the virtual track

01.11.2018: After a packed F1 schedule, yesterday’s attention turned to the virtual world and the latest event in the F1 Esports Pro Series, held at the Gfinity Esports Arena in London

After a packed F1 schedule, yesterday’s attention turned to the virtual world and the latest event in the F1 Esports Pro Series, held at the Gfinity Esports Arena in London.

Joni Törmålå and Graham Carroll were once again representing the Red Bull Racing Esports Team, and the pair maintained our third place in the Constructors’ Championship with a strong run of points finishes as the series took in events at the Circuit Paul Ricard, Silverstone and Spa-Francorchamps.

JONI TORMALA (Finland):

Race 1: Finish Position:  P9 (2 points)
Race 2: Finish Position:  P9 (2 points)
Race 3: Finish Position:  P2 (18 point)
Driver Standing:             P5 (38 points; Event 1: 16 points)

“The last race went pretty much perfectly from start to finish. Starting sixth was ok but I managed to gain four positions – and P2 is my best finish of the season so I’m very happy with that.

The qualifying for the first two races didn’t go quite as well as it should have. Because of the rain I made a wrong choice with the timing of the lap and I had to start from P16 at Silverstone, but then I managed to get up to ninth in the end and scored some points.”

GRAHAM CARROLL (Great Britain):

Race 1: Finish Position:  P11 (0 points)
Race 2: Finish Position:  P8   (4 points)
Race 3: Finish Position:  P10 (1 point)
Driver Standing:             P10 (21 points; Event 1: 16 points)

“It wasn’t there today. Not the best of days but we got some points in the end. I should have had sixth in France but I only have myself to blame after a silly mistake led to a penalty.

After that the two qualifying sessions were a bit of a nightmare with Joni starting from 16th and me from 17th at Silverstone. But I came through the field and could even reach P10 in the second race. So I scored points in both races, which is the main thing. We’ll come back stronger next time.”

The final sequence of races will take place later this month at the Gfinity Arena with everything to play for as the 2018 F1 Esports Pro Series reaches its dramatic conclusion.

Teams Standings

 1. Mercedes AMG-Petronas Esports          208 points
 2. Scuderia Toro Rosso Esports                   137 points
 3. Red Bull Racing Esports                            59 points
