IFM drivers hatching Brands wins

18.09.2007: IFM drivers hatching Brands wins

This weekendís penultimate International Formula Master (IFM) rounds see the Seriesí young racers take to Brands Hatchís British curves for the first time.

With a 25-point lead, Cram Competition driver JťrŰme DíAmbrosio is well placed to claim the title in front of the British crowds, although another six drivers are still in the running.

Promotorsportís Marcello Puglisi is the only driver to have previous Brands Hatch experience out of the potential title-chasers.

"I was there last year and Iím glad I already know the track because itís very hard so I hope itíll be easier for me," said the 21-year old who has scored a third and two second place finishes so far this season. "I hope to do my best and win a race this time. The car has been great ever since Porto. We found a great set-up then and have been going up and up ever since.

"The first corner, Paddock Hill, is normally very hard. You canít actually see it from the start as it sweeps down which can make things difficult. There is a fast turn through the second part of the track that is also hard. Itís another fast blind corner which will be tricky."

British driver Michael Meadows, is looking to steal the limelight from the Seriesí regulars with his Brands Hatch knowledge this weekend. The

20-year-old guest driving for Euronova Racing finished fourth and sixth earlier this season in British F3 at Brands Hatch and is looking forward to put his experience to good use.

"Euronova Racing had their first podium in Oschersleben with Pierre Ragues," said Meadows. "I would love to score another for them this weekend and give the British crowds something to cheer for!"

Eurosportís coverage of IFMís seventh race weekend will begin Saturday 22 September with race one shown live at 12.00 (CET) on Eurosport. Race two on Sunday will be broadcasted live from 14.00 (CET) on Eurosport 2 and Eurosport Asia-Pacific.

Live streaming will be available on www.eurosport.com  and www.formulamaster.net

As an exciting new single-seater series, IFM offers young, aspiring drivers the chance to prove themselves on an international stage (as it is part of the FIA World Touring Car Championship race weekend package), training and preparing them for the highest echelons of  single-seater racing in front of a global TV audience provided by Eurosport.

Featuring N.Technologyís Formula S2000 race car with electric gearshift and clutch paddles and advanced aerodynamics, the car weighs just 550kg including the driver and runs on control tyres by Yokohama. It has already secured 2008 FIA homologation approval Ė a world first Ė and has generated excitement from all sectors thanks to its dynamic styling, light-weight body and powerful engine.
