The prestigious 2019 Edition of the Junior Motocross World Championship is set to take place this weekend, July 13th and 14th at the stunning track of Pietramurata, Trentino, home of the MXGP of Trentino.




The Pietramurata track, which lies among the Dolomite mountains is getting ready to witness the best Junior motocross riders in the world.


The first edition of the Junior Motocross World Championship was held in 1999 and since that time many young talents were crowned Junior Motocross World Champion or Junior World Cup winner such as MX2 and MXGP champions Jeffrey Herlings, Pauls Jonass and Tim Gajser.


The young 125cc, 85cc and 65cc riders will not only compete for their individual position but also for their nation pride as at the end of the weekend a Nation’s winning team will be also determined taking the best three results of its riders, the best result in the 65cc, the best result in the 85cc class and the best result in the 125cc class.



On Friday evening riders and teams from 32 countries attended the opening ceremony which kicked off the event. The event was held at the Podium area of Pietramurata. The Opening ceremony opened with some images from the 2018 Edition of the Junior Motocross World Championship held in Australia and was followed by a welcome speech from Youthstream Representative Patricia Maskarova, FIM CEO Tony Skillington and President of Motoclub Gianfranco Pasqua.


During the opening ceremony also the 2020 FIM Junior Motocross World Championship was officially presented to the crowd. As previously announced the 2020 edition is going to be held in Greece at the former Motocross World Championship venue of Megalopolis.


      
This edition is bound to be a one to remember, the host team, Team Italy is lining up with 21 riders, while winning Team Australia is participating with 6 riders among an outstanding starting list of 234 riders who go bar-to-bar on Sunday with the hope to be crowned on Italian soil and receive the awesome Scott bike SCALE 990.



As for riders expectations, in the premier 125cc class several top riders ca be capable of becoming 2018 Junior World Champion. Team Italy is lining up 2018 125cc Junior second overall Mattia Guadagnini and Alessandro Facca among the others, Team Belgium will field Liam Everts, while Team France has on his side the EMX125 Presented by FMF Racing red plate holder Tom Guyon and EMX rider Florian Miot along with Netherlands’ Kay de Wolf and Swiss’ Mike Gwerder. Other well known names are South African Camden MC Lellan and Russian Nikita Kucherov.



The 85cc and 65cc classes are packed of young talents to watch out as possible winners such as: Netherlands’ Lotte Van Drunen and Czech Marek Vitězslav who won 65cc race 1 in 2018.
     
 

A TV crew is onsite to film the event which is going to be shortly aired on www.mxgp-tv.com in a 22 min and 44 min program format. The 44 min program is going to be broadcasted on CBS SN on August the 6th, but the meantime click HERE to see the welcome message of the event.
