Youngest Egyptian Driver in Egypt Racing Team Joins ZIP Formula Middle East Championship

10.09.2007: Youngest Egyptian Driver in Egypt Racing Team Joins ZIP Formula Middle East Championship

The Egyptian team represented by Ahmed Hamada, Adham Bekir and Mohammed Hamdy will participate in the Middle East ZIP Formula Championship under the supervision of Automotive & Touring Club of Egypt, the representative of the FIA "Federation International de Automobile" .The team ranked third in the first ZIP Formula Championship that took place in Bahrain International Circuit (Thunder Arabia Championship 2005) and they won the fourth place in 2006. The team included the contestant Mazen Badawy, 15 years old, to achieve its goals so that he becomes the youngest team member.

In the season 2007-2008 the team set implementation steps to qualify its contestants. This started with Mazen Badawy who traveled to the UK for three days in the middle of July accompanied by trainers Gary Halford and Mills Halford. Then, he traveled once again in the beginning of August to be trained in an old airport that is used as a racing track and is called Bruntingthorpe.

It is free of any obstacles so that Mazen can get a greater chance to learn without getting his car damaged and to be acquainted with different types of bends in runoff area. Mazen has expressed a great ability to control and deal with the racing cars that are used for training. These are "V.W Jettta 1.8 L" and "Ford Mondio 2.0 L" .This achievement makes him a good start up for car races in the future.

Mazen is considered the youngest contestant in the Middle East Zip Formula Championship. He was also the youngest to participate in the Karting since he was 8 years old. His career history in motorsport reached 7 years that qualifies him to participate in Bahrain International Circuit and reach an advanced position that honors Egypt.

In this regard, the Team Principle Mr. Medhat Badawi, said: "The Egyptian Team is continuously growing and not limited to a number of participants, this year Mazen Badawi joined the team as the youngest team member and he has the capability and skills that qualify him to reach international motorsport series on the long term like Formula One and A1 GP"

The Team Manager Mr. Mohamed Gamal said: "Mazen is considered a good start up for participating in motorsport for he started training and practicing since he was 8 and according to the reports from the UK, Mazen is considered a new champion with skills that can be improved to go internationally and represent Egypt adequately".

All the training that Mazen Badawi experienced is in the framework of joining Zip Formula"2007-2008" which will take place at Bahrain International Track in the beginning of November 2007 and will continue till end of March 2008.

Fifteen years-old Mazen Badawi is the youngest driver to join the Egypt Racing Team. He will be the youngest contestant in the Middle East ZIP Formula Championship 2007/8
