FIA F3 Championship, Budapest, Race Two

Team Trident did not score points in the final race at Hungaroring. Devlin Defrancesco and Niko Kari ended up just outside the top-10, while Pedro Piquet finished in arrears.

The second race for the FIA Formula 3 weekend at Hungaroring, the classic track located on the outskirts of Budapest, Team Trident did not secure a result in line with the potential showed by its cars. The outcome of today's race was heavily influenced by how the first one ended. The drivers fielded by Italian squad were forced to start down on the starting grid on a track that notoriously does not make overtaking easy.

Brazilian Pedro Piquet, who started from the back of the grid, was well aware that recovery would have been a sort of impossible feature. The South American driver gained some positions but remained in arrears after putting up a very competitive race pace.

Devlin Defrancesco was again very convincing, in line with the good showings of the rest of the weekend. The 19-year-old Canadian had managed a really good recovery driver and even entered the top-10 before a contact made him lose.a bit of pace. Anyways, Defrancesco certainly left a good impression for his consistent growth.

The balance of 19-year-old Finnish Niko Kari was not in line with his potential. After flat-spotting his tires in the first heat, he fought in the middle of the pack and finished in P12, right behind Devlin Defrancesco.

Giacomo Ricci, Team Manager

"I am sure that the summer break will serve us well after the unfortunate runs at Silverstone and Budapest. On both occasions, our drivers showed good potential but could not manage to turn what was available into consistent results. The balance of today's race is the result of what happened yesterday, and the subsequent placings on the grid."

FIA F3 Championship, Budapest, Race One

The Team Trident drivers weren’t blessed by good luck in the first race of the weekend at the Hungarian venue. Pedro Piquet faced a mechanical issue, while Niko Kari had to slow down in the closing stages after flat-spotting a tire. Devlin Defrancesco performed well, ending up close to the top-10.

The opening race for round 5 of the FIA Formula 3 Championship at the traditional Hungaroring circuit saw the Team Trident drivers showcase good performances although they weren't able to make it to the points zone. After securing the sixth place on the starting grid, 20-year-old Pedro Piquet was forced to go back to the pit lane due to a technical problem when he was running fifth.

Niko Kari held the third place for most of the day but saw his run jeopardized by a flat-spotted tire. The Finn had to slow down his pace with only a handful of laps to the finish. It was a cursed day for Kari and Piquet, who impressed in qualifying and shared row three on the grid.

Devlin Defrancesco enjoyed a very convincing run, moving up to the 12th place despite starting from the 25th spot. The 19-year-old Canadian had similar potential to his team-mates but was slowed down by another contender on the most important lap of qualifying. Now the goal the drivers and technical staff of Team Trident is to prepare well for the second race of the weekend, which will take place tomorrow at 10:00 am local time.

Giacomo Ricci, Team Manager

"It's impossible not to say that this race was cursed. Kari and Piqued did a great job in qualifying and had the potential for a podium finish, but they were stopped by a flat-spotted tire and a technical issue respectively. Defrancesco put up a convincing recovery as he continues to gain momentum. We will give our 100 per cent to score some points in tomorrow's race 2."
