FFF Racing is glad to announce its participation to the FIA Motorsports Games 2019. The team stemmed in 2014 from the cooperation between Fu Songyang and Andrea Caldarelli will compete in the GT Cup as Team Japan, lining-up Hiroshi Hamaguchi and Ukyo Sasahara at the wheel of a Lamborghini Huracan EVO GT3.

The FIA Motorsport Games are the result of the successful FIA GT Nations Cup held last year at Bahrain International Circuit, with the concept being  announced by the FIA last month. The inaugural event, organized by the FIA in conjunction with promoter SRO Motorsports Group, is scheduled to take place in Rome and at the nearby Vallelunga Circuit from 31st  October to 3rd November 2019.

Pursuing on concept of national teams initiated with the GT Nations Cup, each competition invites one entry per country, to be selected by the respective National Sporting Authorities (ASNs) worldwide. Liveries in each discipline will feature the national flag of the respective country.

A spectacular Opening Ceremony will be held in Rome on 31 October, at which the competing nations will celebrate their participation against the backdrop of iconic landmarks such as the Coliseum and the Piazza del Popolo.

Each driver pairing must be categorized by the FIA as either all Bronze or Bronze/Silver. The GT Cup will offer a total of six hours of track time per entry between Friday and Sunday. Following two one-hour-long races, a final one of the same length will determine the medal-winning pairings.

Hamaguchi, 42 years old, is a very well-known driver inside the team, having scored its first-ever victory in 2014 alongside Vitantonio Liuzzi in GT Asia, and having also achieved two incredible titles in the Blancpain GT Pro-Am class: Champion in the Asia series in 2018 with Marco Mapelli, and Champion, a few weeks ago, in the World Challenge Europe with Phil Keen.

His teammate will be Ukyo Sasahara, born on 24 April 1996, comes from a good European single-seaters background, as he raced in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup for three years and in Formula 4. In the National Championship he was runner-up in 2017, while he finished 3rd stepping up ito the 2018 Japanese Formula 3 series. He is also a freshly- crowned Champion in the Porsche Carrera Cup Japan.

Andrea Caldarelli, FFF Racing Team Principal

“I’m delighted to be part of this new chapter of racing. The FIA Motorsport Games is a great idea bringing our sport to a different dimension. I’m happy that Team Japan has chosen our team to represent them in a such important discipline. It is a nation I have in my heart due to my racing career in Super GT and Superformula, and I feel honoured venture in this project with Hiroshi, the driver that trusted us since our first steps as a team.

I’m also happy to welcome Ukyo in the team, one of the youngest stars in Japan that I have been following with interest in the last few years. Vallelunga is a great location for racing in November, I really looking forward to seeing what our maiden GT Cup attendance can yield”.
