In überlegener Manier holt sich der Oberösterreicher am Hungaroring alle Laufsiege der Formel Renault und damit auch zwei Meisterschaftstitel



Mit drei Siegen in drei Läufen am finalen Rennwochenende des Drexler Formel Cups sicherte sich Nico Gruber sowohl die Formel Renault 2.0 Meisterschaft des Bewerbs wie auch den österreichischen Staatsmeistertitel in dieser Rennklasse. Zudem wurde der 18-Jährige im FIA Central European Zone Formula Renault 2.0 Championship trotz zweier weniger gefahrener Wochenende ausgezeichneter Dritter.



„Ich bin einfach überglücklich. Den Hungaroring kannte ich noch nicht und hier dann gleich alle Rennen zu gewinnen, ist natürlich fantastisch. Dass es tatsächlich für die Titel gereicht hat, ist großartig, denn da ich erst später in die Saison eingestiegen bin, haben mir einige Läufe und somit Punkte gefehlt“, freute sich Gruber.



Nachdem der Oberösterreicher in der letzten Saison schon den Rookie Titel in der britischen Formel Ford gewann, konnte er sich heuer wieder als Neuling zum Champion krönen – und diesmal gleich doppelt.

 

 

„Es war eine wirklich tolle Saison in der Formel Renault. Ich muss mich bei meinem Team Roman Hoffmann Racing bedanken, die mir immer ein Topfahrzeug zur Verfügung gestellt haben, und meinem Renningenieur Christian Lipp. Natürlich auch bei meinem Vater (Anm. Ex-Tourenwagen-WM-Pilot Sascha Plöderl-Martinz) und meinem Manager Harry Miltner von HM Sports“, so der Youngster.



Für Gruber geht’s gleich diese Woche mit der Saisonplanung für 2020 weiter – ab Wochenmitte ist der Schlüsslberger zu Tourenwagen Testfahrten am Hockenheimring in Deutschland.
