Fresh challenge for GRT Grasser Racing Team: With support provided by MRL Simracing, the eSports crew fielded by the successful Lamborghini outfit from Austria has successfully qualified for the 2020 SRO E-Sport GT Series. In the hot-lap contest on Silverstone’s virtual circuit, GRT Grasser eRacing driver, Gregor Schill, won through to secure one of 48 grid slots in the Silver Series.

18-year-old Schill went up against 300 other racers in the competition held from 18th to 20th April, during which time, only 30 contestants got their ticket to join the pro-gamer grid. With his fastest lap, Schill was one of four virtual Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO drivers to successfully qualify for the new virtual racing series being staged for the first time this May/June.

The SRO E-Sport GT Series is to be held on the platform of the official GT World Challenge simulation Assetto Corsa Competizione with drivers divided into three categories as in real life. The Pro Series is the exclusive preserve of drivers from the actual GT World Challenge while the Silver Series is for pro-gamers and the Am Series is open to amateur sim racers.

GRT Grasser eRacing driver Schill will contest the first of the five events on the calendar when he takes part in this Sunday’s opener on the Silverstone circuit, driving GRT Grasser Racing’s Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO. All rounds of the SRO E-Sport GT Series will be shown as live stream on the GTWorld YouTube and Dailymotion channels as well as on the official SRO Motorsports Facebook and Twitch.

Team Principal Gottfried Grasser
: “I’m delighted that Gregor will be representing our team in the SRO E-Sport GT Series. Staging this virtual GT World Challenge is a great idea that will bring drivers and fans closer together in these difficult times.

It will also give our sim racers the chance to show just how well they can perform in a professional environment. We’ve really enjoyed teaming up with MRL Simracing. They always give 110 per cent and do an excellent job of representing the GRT Grasser Racing Team on virtual race tracks.”
