With a delay of more than three months, the new racing season for the Porsche Club Historic Challenge finally starts at the Hockenheimring. A total of 22 pilots have announced their participation for the weekend of 4-5 July. Title defender Christian Voigtländer (997 GT3 Cup) is also among them.

As last year, Christian Voigtländer will again compete with a 997 Porsche of the first Cup generation. Thus the Berliner will meet Wolfgang Bensch and Bernhard Wagner in class 6. With one car the class 1 is occupied. Helmut Piehler will start here with his Cayman S. In contrast, classes 7, 8 and 10 will be strong. In class 7 of the newer 997s, Maximilian Ertl, a driver who has already gained some experience in the Porsche Carrera Cup, will be at the start. Other participants here are Eberhard Faecke, Udo Schwarz, Thomas Prager, Walter Ben Dörrenberg and Vitus Harder.
Five drivers will compete in the 991 Cup Porsche. Dr. Florian Keck, who has swapped his 996 for the modern 991, dares to change here. Gerhard Kilian had already taken a relatively similar step some time ago, albeit from the 997. Kilian is also back in the game. In addition, Mark Karl Maier, Eduard Heinz and Michael Brode will start in class 8.
With seven participants the class 10 is the strongest. Here it comes to an exciting premiere. Georg Vetter will drive his new Porsche 993 GT2 here for the first time. In the previous years, the car was driven by Jürgen Schlager. Kay Kosar will also be at the start with turbo power, but in a 996th The top favourite for the overall victory will probably be Heinz-Bert Wolters in a fast Porsche 997 GT3 R. In addition, Jack Crow, Thomas Kleber (both 997 GT3 Cup), Jürgen Albert (991 GT3 Cup) and Dr. Werner Mössner (Cayman GT4 CS) will be on board.
The weekend starts for the PCHC with the two practice sessions on Saturday, which will take place at 11.50 and 16.20. The races will start on Sunday at 10.50 and 15.20 hours.
The Porsche Club Historic Challenge (PCHC) will also start in 2020 as an international racing series of the Porsche Club Deutschland. Porsche vehicles from the 914 to the Transaxle Porsche, Cayman, 996, 997 and 991 can participate until 2015. On the whole, everything remained the same. Only the year of manufacture limit was raised slightly. So now 991 Porsche of the 2015 model year can participate.
A separate class was also created for the Cayman GT4 up to model year 2015. Due to the Corona Pandemic, the PCHC also had to pay tribute to the schedule. So it was not possible to stick to the six events planned. At the moment three more events are planned for the PCHC.

In the calendar are the Porsche Club Days in Hockenheim from 24-25 July, the RSG Racing Days in Assen from 28-30 August and the ADAC Westfalen Trophy from 16-18 October 2020.
