UNKORRUPTED fight tough weekend at Sweden RX 23.08.2020: The 2nd round of the 2020 FIA World Rallycross Season closed off an exciting first race weekend in Sweden today at the world-famous rallycross track in Holjes.

The 2nd round of the 2020 FIA World Rallycross Season closed off an exciting first race weekend in Sweden today at the world-famous rallycross track in Holjes.



Following a tricky first Championship round yesterday, struggling with the setup of the 2 GCK Clio R.S. RX in changing conditions, the UNKORRUPTED team continued to face challenges as Guerlain Chicherit finished in P13 and Rokas Baciuska in P14 overall.

Having worked through the night to change various aspects to the car’s set up, Chicherit finished his first qualifier in 3rd putting him in P11 overall but contact in the 2nd qualifier had him finish in 5th, pushing him down to P12 overall.



He pushed the GCK Clio R.S. RX to take the checkered flag in his 3rd qualifier but overall race pace put him in 13th overall, with the Frenchman missing out on spot in the semi-final and finishing round 2 of the Championship in P13 overall.
 


“This was not the start to the Championship we had wished for for sure - we’ve done a lot of testing over the winter and showed very competitive pace, however, arriving in Sweden showed the track environment to be extremely challenging for our setup and we struggled with grip.



The team think they may have found the problem and will now work hard to find a way to adjust the car ahead of Finland but it will be tight with only 5 days to go. It’s frustrating and upsetting for sure but I’m not someone to give up and I will fight to come back stronger. We’ve got some of the best drivers and cars in the paddock this year and I want to see the GCK Clio R.S. RX battle with them.”, Chicherit added.

Lithuanian Rokas Baciuska had a tough time with his GCK Clio R.S. RX as contact in Q1 caused engine issues that dropped him into P16 overall.



Following a quick turn around by the team ahead of the 2nd qualifier, Baciuska managed to take the lead and pushed to take the checkered flag taking him up to P14 overall, which he ended the weekend in, having finished his 3rd qualifier in 4th.



“We’ve definitely had a tough race weekend here at the first couple of rounds of the Championship in Sweden - from the turbo breaking which resulted in some engine issues later to struggles with the car setup from the beginning of the weekend, we’ve been fighting hard to find a good way for the GCK Clio R.S. RX to take on the rest of the pack.



We did a lot of testing on very different tracks and our setup didn’t match what we needed here, so there’s work to be done now to find competitive pace.”, Baciuska commented.
