|
From 30 September to 3 October 2020 the most beautiful classics of automobile history will once again transform the Hahnenkamm city into a rolling automobile museum. The rally will be driven on some of the most beautiful Alpine roads in Tyrol and Salzburg.

Postponement instead of cancellation: "the right decision
Oldtimer lovers can be happy: instead of cancelling the rally completely, the organisers decided to move the traditional event, which was planned for the beginning of June, to the autumn. A correct decision, as it turned out: "Only a few starters cancelled.
On the contrary, many of our participants were very pleased that we decided to hold the rally despite all the difficulties," says OC boss Markus Christ. "Of course, it means a lot of effort to fulfil all the requirements, but we are very keen to offer a safe, yet eventful, relaxed and beautiful rally for all participants, spectators and employees".
Attractive starting field - oldest classic car from 1928
Although there are slightly fewer participants than in normal years, a considerable and very attractive starting field of 133 historic vehicles built between 1928 and 1980 will compete in the 33rd Kitzbühel Alpine Rally in the "Corona Year" 2020. The veteran among the veterans is a Bentley 4.5 Litre Le Mans, built in 1928, a racing sports car from the great era of the "Bentley Boys". By the way, a total of 16 pre-war classics will cause a stir on the grid this year.

Over 20,000 horsepower will be on the road at the Alpine Rallye 2020, the strongest vehicle in the field is an Aston Martin Vantage, built in 1976 with 420 horsepower. But not only horsepower giants are competing in the Alpine Rallye: at the lower end of the performance scale this year is a rare Tatra 57A Sport from 1938 with a modest 20 horsepower - it will also bravely tackle the approximately 600 kilometres.
The field of participants includes 26 different brands - in addition to popular sports cars and limousines from well-known manufacturers such as Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Jaguar or Ferrari, which are particularly popular with vintage car fans, the starting field also includes numerous rarities from brands that are now only familiar to insiders: AC, Facel Vega, Intermeccanica, Auto Union, Lagonda, Tatra or Wanderer - great names of past automobile eras...
All in all, the Alpen Rallye's rolling car museum will once again represent a total value of cautiously estimated 20 to 30 million euros.

Tyrolean valley circuit - and stage into the Pinzgau mountains
Selected routes along the most famous Alpine mountains are on the route map - a total of around 600 kilometres. A Tyrolean valley discovery tour is the royal stage this Friday: Brixental, Inn valley, Brandenbergtal, Achental, Alpbachtal, Zillertal and the Wildschönau high valley can be found in the road book, framed by the mountain giants between Wilder Kaiser, Rofan and Karwendel.
In addition to this breathtaking valley tour with a lunch stop in Pertisau on Lake Achensee, the Alpen Rallye on Saturday takes you into the mountain world of Salzburg's Pinzgau with impressive views of the Hochkönig and the three thousand metre peaks of the Hohe Tauern before heading back to Kitzbühel to finish.
