After another good performance in Magny-Cours, SPS automotive performance has its sights set on the podium again, as it heads to the two races in Zandvoort, Netherlands, with a new driver line-up.
Just two weeks after the latest sprint event in the GT World Challenge Europe in Magny-Cours, the SPS automotive performance team now travels to Circuit Zandvoort. The goal is to continue the recent improvement in form at the newly-upgraded circuit in the Dutch dunes, and to finish on the podium in the PRO-AM class again.
Valentin Pierburg (GER), who is contesting the full season of the GT World Challenge Europe at the wheel of the number 20 Mercedes-AMG GT3, will have a new team-mate for the event in the Netherlands. His regular partner Dominik Baumann (AUT) is in action at the Nürburgring 24 Hours this weekend, so Nick Foster (AUS) will take his place in the cockpit.
The 28-year-old Australian joins SPS automotive performance direct from his outing in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. He is an experienced sports car and GT driver, and a former champion in the Australian Porsche Cup. Foster has also enjoyed success in such renowned series as the Intercontinental GT Challenge, the Blancpain GT Series Asia, and the Asian Le Mans Series.
The two 60-minute races in the GT World Challenge Europe take place on Saturday, September 26. Race one gets underway at 09:00 CEST, followed by race two at 13:45 CEST.
Stephan Sohn, team principal SPS automotive performance: “The fact that the GT World Challenge Europe clashes with the Nürburgring 24 Hours this weekend means that we must unfortunately do without Dominik Baumann. However, I believe we have found an adequate replacement in Nick Foster. Nick is an experienced driver, who can help us progress with our development. We are confident that we can claim another podium in our class.”
