With two class victories, podium finishes and top 10 results Leipert Motorsport succeeds at the Lamborghini Super Trofeo race weekend in Barcelona



The third round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe season was once again crowned with success for Leipert Motorsport. Despite corona-related changes in the driver line-up, the team from Wegberg once again achieved top 10 successes with all four Lamborghini Huracán and celebrated two class wins with the AM duo Fidel Leib / Yury Wagner.




The "Corona" motorsport season 2020 once again included a change: Jake Rattenbury (Wales) and Marcus Paverud (Norway) had to end the season early due to corona restrictions, which is why Noah Watt (Denmark) and Jonathan Judek (Germany) made their first team appearances this weekend. As part of the GT World Challenge, round five and six of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo took place at the Barcelona de Catalunya circuit in Spain.




Class win and podium in Saturday's race



Fidel Leib secured himself and team mate Yury Wagner the Pole Position in the AM classification (P13 overall) for the first race on Saturday. During the first stint Fidel was able to make up one place. His team-mate Yury managed to equal him, won another duel on the track and crossed the finish line in eleventh place overall. The driver duo of the #21 in PROFI-CAR design also celebrated class victory as the best AM duo.


Also Mikko Eskelinen and Elias Niskanen on the MadCroc Lamborghini #30 were happy about a PRO-AM podium finish: Having started from twelfth place overall, Mikko quickly overtook two rivals at the start. When Elias took over the steering wheel, he also showed his brilliance with fast overtaking manoeuvres. They finished ninth overall, which secured them the silver cup in their class.

Sebastian Balthasar started the race in the #2 Lamborghini in the PRO class from seventh position and fought a thrilling duel after the first safety car phase. When his new team mate - Noah Watt - took over the second stint, he won another position and scored important points as fifth overall.


Also the PRO Duo Judek / Pujeu on the #69 was happy about a Top 10 result: After a strong stint by Guillem Pujeu, the newcomer in the team - Jonathan Judek - also showed his driving skills in the race. Finally the duo was happy about the tenth place (P8 PRO classification).


Double victory in the AM class and a lot of championship points also on Sunday

Fidel Leib and Yury Wagner repeated their class win of the previous day. Being the best AM duo, they reached the second Gold Cup this weekend with P12 overall.

Also a successful race for Mikko Eskelinen and Elias Niskanen: After exciting fights on the 4.655 kilometre long track, the duo took the podium for the second time, this time as third-best PRO-AM team (P11 overall).

Although Noah Watt and Sebastian Balthasar had to take a drive-through penalty on the #2 in the second race, the two were still able to minimize their losses in the end. With fast laps and fair duels, the two crossed the finish line in eighth place overall (P7 PRO classification). Finally, the result was rounded up by the two PRO drivers Judek / Pujeu, who were ranked tenth overall (P8 PRO classification) for the second time.



With all four Lamborghinis in the top ten rankings, two podium wins and a double victory, the MOTUL-supported team from Wegberg has completed another successful race weekend. The Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe will continue in two weeks' time at the GT World Challenge in Spa-Francorchamps (20-24.10.2020).


However, the team is already moving on this week with the AMG GT4 cars to the next rounds of the DTM Trophy from 16-18.10.20 at the Circuit Zolder in Belgium.
