Trio of drivers to take on their home races as midfield battles heats up

The BWT Racing Point F1 Esports Team’s line-up of Lucas Blakeley, Daniele Haddad and Shanaka Clay head into Event Three of the 2020 F1 Esports Pro Series aiming to fight its way up a tightly congested midfield order.



With just 23 points splitting P4 and the team in P8, there’s plenty to fight for in the upcoming triple-header.



After a challenging opening round in the F1 Esports Pro Series, the team made progress in Event Two by scoring a double-points finish through Lucas and Daniele in the Austrian finale.





A Virtual Home Race




Event Three includes the team’s home race at Silverstone, alongside rounds at Spa and Monza in a triple-header of speed.



Lucas and Shanaka will take on their home race at Silverstone and Lucas will also team up with Daniele for Spa.



For Daniele, Monza will mark a virtual home race, and the Italian has form at the race, having picked up a points-scoring finish in last year’s race. He will be joined by Shanaka at the Italian Grand Prix circuit.

The F1 Esports Pro Series has had some tweaks ahead of the 2020 campaign including a new qualifying format that will closely replicate the real-world Formula 1 qualifying format.
 


Races have also been increased to 35% race distance for the coming campaign, while the latest F1 2020 video game has also been improved on its predecessor and will further challenge the drivers.
 


Fans can follow live coverage on the team’s social channels, while Formula 1 has increased its broadcast offering for 2020.
 


Qualifying will now be broadcast over Twitch and Huya, while the daily evening shows will be broadcast live through Formula 1’s select TV partners.
 


Fans in the UK, Italy and Germany can see the action unfold on Sky Sports, with ESPN providing the broadcast for the USA. SuperSport will broadcast across Africa while Fox Sports will broadcast in Latin America and Australia. Ziggo will provide the Dutch broadcast, while Nordic Entertainment Group covers Scandinavia.

“Event Three is all about the history of Formula 1 and Silverstone, Spa and Monza have all played big parts in it. They’re very unique in style and challenge compared to some of the other circuits this season. I really enjoy driving at high-speed circuits that have little room for error.



Silverstone has some amazing corners, while Spa is the longest track on the calendar and then Monza is rightly known as the temple of speed – so it’s a varied challenge for all of the field too. We’ll be targeting good points for the team and we’re confident we can perform strongly at the tracks.”

“This Event has the potential to be the most exciting of the season as it’s three very special tracks in Silverstone, Spa and Monza. It might be virtual, but even on the F1 2020 video game, Monza feels like a home race and I’m definitely targeting a strong result for the team.



It’s important not to get carried away though, we’ve seen in every race this season just how close the margins are and there’s no reason why it would be any different this time. We’ll go into the Event focussed and determined, the goal is to score points more regularly and climb the Constructors’ Championship standings.”

“Everyone will enjoy racing at the three tracks in this Event. I’m really proud to be racing for the team in its home event, especially as it’s also mine! Looking at Silverstone, Spa and Monza, I’m confident we can be strong at all of them – we were fast in the high-speed Austria race last time out, for example.



 We’ll get a real idea of our potential in qualifying and we’ve seen how crucial that is in this year’s series. If we can execute well in qualifying, I’m confident we can score some good points and make progress in Event Three.”
