“Delighted with my first rallycross podium”

This season our fellow countryman Enzo Ide also saw his programme thoroughly altered due to the prevailing corona crisis, however this last weekend he concluded the season brilliantly.

In his fledging rallycross career this weekend he discovered the British Lydden Hill circuit, located in the vicinity of Dover, where the rallycross came into being in the beginning of the ‘70s. On this legendary circuit our fellow countryman scored a double podium, an awesome performance that automatically offers up ‘enthusiasm’ to tackle the 2021 season.

Enzo Ide travelled over to the south of England with his Audi S1 entered by the JC Raceteknik team in which regular driver and World Championship Liam Doran was his teammate for the occasion.

In addition, we also came across the presence of the Brutish driver Oliver Bennett who has already competed in a fair number of World Championship rounds at the wheel of his MINI. Enzo Ide was immediately able to measure up to various top players, a perfect material when it comes to developing his learning curve.

And over two days Ide proved his worth during the double-header in the 5 Nations BRX, namely the British rallycross championship. Both on Saturday and Sunday Enzo Ide was the fastest in free practice and in each of the three qualifying sessions claimed a best time. The West-Flanders based driver then won the semi-final after which he finished twice behind his British teammate Liam Doran.

Matters could have turned out differently on the Sunday. Ide grabbed the lead but due to a minor error in the renowned Chessons drift bend had to let Doran through. And then one lap later in the joker section having been baulked by a slower competitor Enzo Ide had to be contended with the second place in the wake of Liam Doran.

“I’m truly delighted, because I was able to put pressure on Liam Doran, who is a driver with far more experience. Victory was definitely on the books on Sunday, but when tackling the mandatory joker section, I was held back by a slower competitor”, Ide concluded after the finish.

Further details regarding the 2012 season will follow in due course. Discover Enzo Ide’s new website here: www.enzoide.be
