Beijing Paris, a true reference in the world of rallies, is a unique endurance event in the world of the automobile that brings together beliefs and cultures from all over the world around a common interest: the historic automobile.


26 nationalities will be represented (New Zealand, Australia, Argentina, Mexico, Japan, the Americas and Europe) on the starting line and the cars will cross 10 different countries (China, Russia, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Turkey, Greece, Italy, Switzerland and France) and no less than 6 time zones.



With a route of 9,000 miles or 14,484 kilometres of deserts and dirt roads, riding in a car approaching the centenary is the ultimate challenge. It will involve driving an average of more than 380 km per day, including a 600 km stage, on a route that does not always include roads... A real challenge for the cars in competition.




The 110 participants have just been revealed with a very rich reserve list as well. This official selection is made up of 36 different makes divided into 3 categories :


- The "Classic" category (from 1948 to 1975): 57 vehicles are entered, including an Austin Cambridge, a Jaguar XKE or a Citroën DS.


- The "Vintage" category (from 1921 to 1947): 52 cars will compete in this category, including 12 manufactured before 1930. Bentley and Chevrolet, with 13 British cars entered and 20 American cars, will fight a real Battle of the Atlantic that will end in France.


- The "Pioneer" category (until 1920): only one car is entered in this category. With a 1914 fire engine, the American LaFrance Type 10 will be driven by Thomas de Vargas Machuca, president of Hero-ERA, and Ben Cussons president of the Royal Automobile Club. One of the most unusual vehicles of the event to watch closely.



Ford will be the most represented manufacturer with 22 registrations, ranging from the 1928 Ford A Tudor Taxi to the famous Ford Escort.



This event brings together both novice and experienced participants. Such as Richard Walker and Faith Douglas who will embark on this journey aboard a 1941 Chevrolet Coupe or Gerry Crown, three-time winner of the event, who will be at the wheel of the Leyland P76 with Matt Bryson. The winning duo in the Classic category of the 2019 edition.



The first start of the Peking-Paris Rally dates back to June 10, 1907, when five cars were entered on the starting line and four will finish the race. One of them was abandoned in the Gobi Desert, where it is still standing. It was Prince Borghese who won this final challenge at the wheel of his 4-cylinder ITALA without even consulting a map, relying only on a compass.


All the participants are looking forward to the adventure that will begin in a little over a year's time. In the meantime, everyone is busy preparing to take part in this incredible rally in the best possible conditions.
