Jan Magnussen and Michael Carlsen shared wins at the second event of TCR Denmark at Jyllandsringen.

In Race 1, Nicolai Sylvest was on pole, but Magnussen got the better start and passed his teammate into T1. Sylvest tried to stay with him, but left the door open for Kasper H. Jensen, who took second place.

The top four pulled away, with Jacob Mathiassen’s Alfa Romeo the last of the pack. Magnussen then pulled away from Jensen and Sylvest, while Casper Elgaard caught up to Mathiassen who gave up fourth when he locked up at Turn 1 two laps from the end. The top ten were reversed for the Race 2, with Carlsen on pole, ahead of René Povlsen.

Carlsen had a good start and led, while Povlsen was shuffled back. At the back end of the top ten, Magnussen took Sylvest with him as the pair worked their way up to get to sixth and seventh in the final order.

Up front, Carlsen built up a two-second lead over Michael Markussen who kept Elgaard behind to the finish. Magnussen was on pole for Race 3 ahead of Jensen.

The latter had a good start, but the two drivers made contact; they were still ahead of Markussen and Elgaard who also hit each other and went into a half-spin.

Magnussen emerged in the lead ahead of Jensen and Carlsen, though the contact into Turn 1 would soon develop into a left-rear puncture for Jensen who pitted and dropped to the back. Jensen’s troubles promoted Carlsen to second and Elgaard to third.

Magnussen has now won five of the first six races and leads the standings by 54 points over Elgaard.

The next event takes place at Copenhagen on August 6-8.
