Sport for purpose electric racing series, Extreme E, today announces the latest addition to its broadcast portfolio with Morocco’s SNRT.

SNRT - Société Nationale de Radiodiffusion et de Télévision - Morocco’s leading state broadcasting service - is televising this year’s championship live and in full as well as the highlights, previews, reviews and its 20-part magazine programme, the Electric Odyssey - in both Arabic and French. In addition, Extreme E’s X Prixs will be available to view on the digital platform, arryadia.com.

SNRT has headquarters in Rabat and employs 2,300 personnel across its media platforms. In addition to the station’s wide menu of sporting and lifestyle programmes, SNRT is known for its intrepid approach to environmental issues as well as a strong endorsement of gender-equal opportunities within its organisation.

Extreme E made its debut in the Saudi Arabian desert at the beginning of April, followed by the Ocean X Prix in Senegal in May. The unique electric SUV race action delighted audiences across the world who witnessed the likes of Sébastien Loeb, Carlos Sainz Snr., Johan Kristofferson, Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky, Molly Taylor and Catie Munnings, battle it out for race honours in massive 550bhp ‘ODYSSEY 21’ electric SUVs. Both gripping Finals were won in style by Johan Kristofferson and Molly Taylor driving for Rosberg X Racing.

Ali Russell, Chief Marketing Officer at Extreme E said:
“SNRT and its associated channels are a great fit for our electric racing championship, and we are delighted to have secured this deal.  Apart from being able to extend our excellent broadcast package to the Moroccan region, SNRT shares many of Extreme E’s core values such as gender equality and concern about the world’s climate crisis - both of which are key pillars behind our sport for purpose series.

“Extreme E’s X Prixs in Saudi Arabia and Senegal were overwhelming successes and the feedback from fans has been resoundingly positive. We cannot wait to bring more thrilling action to viewers when we race in Greenland at the end of August.”

Hassan Boutabssil, Head of Arryadia, Moroccan Sports Channel /Sports Rights Manager at SNRT added
: “Extreme E is a future facing sport with the environment, entertainment, equality and electrification at its core. Morocco has moved to renewable energy solutions and we love the way sport for purpose resonates with Extreme E.”

Extreme E has proven to be not only a ‘must-see event’ for motorsports fans, but it also marks a new era of racing that brings environmental issues to the forefront.

Following the races in Saudi Arabia and Senegal, the series now goes on to visit Greenland (28-29 August). By holding races in areas that are suffering at the hands of the environmental crisis, such as deserts and the Arctic, the aim is to raise viewers' awareness and interest in environmental issues.

The series also has a unique viewing format, with races being held without spectators in order to reduce the championship’s carbon footprint. In addition, the championship transports equipment for the race by sea on its floating centrepiece, the St. Helena.
