Following International Formula Master’s (IFM) action-packed first two race weekends, Czech Republic’s Automotodrom in Brno has a lot to live up to as it welcomes IFM’s young racers.
At 5.403km long, the Automotodrom is one of the longest tracks on this year’s IFM calendar, with only Monza able to claim a longer lap. Competition will be as close as ever with leading driver Jérôme D’Ambrosio only four points ahead of the rest of the field.
Pau race winner Chris van der Drift is one of the few drivers with previous experience of the circuit having already raced there on two previous occasions.
"I raced in Brno in 2004 and 2005 and it was a little bit boring actually because the cars weren’t very fast" said the J.D.Motorosport driver.
"I can’t wait to get back there with a Formula S2000, it’s going to be a lot more exciting!
"The circuit is all about quick corners; it’s a very big track and is quite wide, which will be nice after Pau. Passing is definitely possible around there, especially at the first corner which is a big, fast sweeper. So far it’s been really easy to drive close to other cars too which all helps towards overtaking.
"I think the heat will also play a part in the weekend, especially in qualifying. Brno is a very long track which can be pretty demanding on tyres and hot temperatures will make things even more tough."
IFM’s third race weekend will take place in Brno, Czech Republic on 16 and 17 June. Live streaming will be available on www.eurosport.com and www.formulamaster.net

Featuring N.Technology’s Formula S2000 race car with electric gearshift and clutch paddles and advanced aerodynamics, the car weighs just 550kg including the driver and runs on control tyres by Yokohama. It has already secured 2008 FIA homologation approval – a world first – and has generated excitement from all sectors thanks to its dynamic styling, light-weight body and powerful engine.
