14:10 SSV: Del Rio is third!

“We want to finish the Dakar and be in the top ten,” announced Lucas Del Rio before the 2021 edition. Today the Chilean, who is participating for the first time in the SSV category on the Dakar, has climbed into third place after 118 km, in between Austin Jones and Michał Goczał. The South Racing driver is only just over one minute behind Marek Goczał.

13:23 SSV: Marek Goczał regains the lead

Marek Goczał lost the lead after 80 km, but the Polish driver has regained it at the following check point, moving ahead of Austin Jones and his brother Michał.

Molly Taylor, who is taking part in her very first Dakar this year, occupies fourth position, 3 minutes behind. The day is proving more complicated for Rodrigo Luppi De Oliveira who has also lost more than 3 minutes, whilst Aron Domżała has lost more than 4 minutes.

12:31 SSV: Luppi de Oliveira takes the lead

Rodrigo Luppi De Oliveira was the 10th SSV to start this morning, determined to draw a line under the 30 minutes he lost yesterday. The Brazilian has reached the 40-km point in the lead, 11’’ ahead of Marek Goczał. Aron Domżała trails the stage leader by only 16’’ in third position. Indeed, the top seven are no more than 30 seconds behind the current stage leader!

11:47 SSV: A fast special for the SSVs

In the SSV special, the fight is very close at the moment. Marek Goczał leads with an advantage of less than 10’’ over Aron Domżała and Austin Jones. Gerard Farrés, Michał Goczał and Rokas Baciuska are less than one minute behind after 40 km. They will also have to keep an eye on Rodrigo Luppi de Oliveira’s attempt to claw back time after losing more than half an hour yesterday.

11:12 SSV: The Goczał brothers start the special

Marek and Michał Goczał achieved another 1-2 finish on completion of yesterday’s special. The two brothers are opening the way for their rivals this morning, particularly Austin Jones, who leads the general rankings by 6 minutes ahead of Gerard Farrés, who will start behind the American today.
