Kasper Andersen wins IFM's thrilling second race in Valencia
|
Motorsport fans were treated to another superb race from the brand-new International Formula Master Series today for round two in Valencia.

J.D. Motorsport’s Kasper Andersen won the race after a thrilling performance which saw the Danish driver speed to victory following a first-class overtaking move on pole position man Alberto Costa.
Euronova Racing’s Costa protected his lead from the start, putting Juho Annala on the grass in process, which gave Andersen second place. Costa’s moves weren’t enough to keep the J.D. Motorsport driver behind for long however and the Danish took the lead half-way through the first lap.
Even a safety car couldn’t keep Andersen from the top spot, despite the best effort of Cram Competition’s Jerome D’Ambrosio. The Belgian finished in second place, less than half a second away with Spain’s Oliver Campos Hull claiming third place.
Kasper Andersen, car 8, J.D. Motorsport
"I can’t believe I won. I had a good start and the car was just fast, I’m really happy with it. I pushed a lot to get away from D’Ambrosio especially after the safety car because I knew he would be quick. I really didn’t expect to be leading the Series, especially with the amount of good drivers and teams that are taking part…but I’m leading!"
Jerome D’Ambrosio, car 25, Cram Competition
"It’s great to take points, I want as many as possible. It’s so important to be good in both races, especially with the inverted grid. I had a bad qualifying and had to start race one in last position but I’ve climbed up throughout the weekend. Kasper was faster than me so second place is great, I’m really happy with today."
Oliver Campos Hull, car 4, Iris Project
"I had a hard fight with Cecotto, Sanchez Lopez and Goetz throughout most of the race. I tried to get a good start and all I wanted was to finish third but I spent the all time fighting! The safety car was the worst thing for me because I knew Goetz was right behind me and would be fast."
