The teams with the Mercedes-AMG GT3 have successfully mastered the first day of track action during the TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa.

After free practice and pre-qualifying, the four-part qualifying on Thursday evening served as the first real test: as darkness fell, there were turbulent situations and interruptions galore in the field of the 66 GT3 cars.



Eventually, the fastest combined lap time across the 14 GT3s from Affalterbach was achieved by Maximilian Götz (GER), Steijn Schothorst (NED) and Luca Stolz (GER): the trio was classified in eight place with the #2 Mercedes-AMG Team GetSpeed car.



Jules Gounon (FRA), Daniel Juncadella (ESP) and Raffaele Marciello (SUI) with the #88 Mercedes-AMG Team AKKODIS ASP car and Maximilian Buhk, Maro Engel (both GER) and Mikaël Grenier (CAN) in the #55 Mercedes-AMG Team GruppeM entry followed right behind them.



In 20th place, the Al Manar Racing by HRT team’s Silver Cup quartet of Al Faisal Al Zubair (OMA), Axcil Jefferies (ZIM), Daniel Morad (CAN) and Fabian Schiller (GER) also secured its slot for the Super Pole session. The shoot-out of the 20 fastest cars starts on Friday evening and determines the order on the first ten starting grid rows for the 24-hour race. Maximilian Götz, Mercedes-AMG Team GetSpeed #2: “Qualifying was good, I ended up third in my group. With a very good eighth place, we have reached our goal of making it into Super Pole. We will use today’s night practice to get used to the conditions, to adjust the lights and to do some fine-tuning so that we have a perfect car in Super Pole tomorrow.”



Daniel Juncadella, Mercedes-AMG Team AKKODIS ASP #88: “Of course, we had hoped for a little bit more than ninth place. But at the end of the day, it was just about ending up among the first twenty. That is what we did. Let’s be surprised how things will go tomorrow.”



Maximilian Buhk, Mercedes-AMG Team GruppeM #55: “With Super Pole, we have reached the first intermediate goal. The red flags didn’t make things easier, but we managed to work our way through traffic well, keep the car undamaged and to get our slot for tomorrow.”



Fabian Schiller, Al Manar Racing by HRT #777: “For us, qualifying went relatively well. Due to the red flags, finding a rhythm was difficult, but we are in the top 20, which is a great result for us as a Silver team. In Q2, we were second-fastest. Many thanks to the entire HRT team that gave us an outstanding car, With today’s performance, we laid a good foundation for the race.”
