Rising star Harry King successfully wrapped up the 2022 Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux title in fine style with a pair of victories in the final round of the campaign at Hockenheim.



Despite being very much the dominant force in the series this season - having scored seven wins from the opening eight races - Harry took a lead of just nine points into the final two meeting having been forced to miss the penultimate round of the year in Barcelona due to his commitments in the Mobil 1 Porsche Supercup.



Facing off against Glenn van Parijs and Ghislain Cordeel in a three-way battle for top honours, Harry put his Parker Revs Motorsport-run car on the front row of the grid for both races, qualifying second behind guest entrant Morris Schuring.



A rocket start to the opening race saw Harry blast ahead of his fellow Supercup racer to grab the lead into turn one, and he would keep the Dutch racer at bay in the early stages before edging away at the front to secure win number eight of the campaign.



That allowed Harry to extend his lead over van Parijs - who rounded out the podium in third - with Cordeel dropping out of contention.



Although well aware that the only way he could be beaten to the title was if he finished behind van Parijs in race two, Harry elected to take the same approach as he had done all season by going on the attack rather than simply settling for the points required.



Van Parijs would make a bid to try and get ahead of Harry on the opening lap but he was able to hold on to his position before setting off after Schuring, who had taken advantage of the lap one squabble to build a slender advantage.



After a brief scare when Schuring ran wide at the hairpin and then rejoined just as Harry exited the corner, the young Brit continued to run in second spot on the road, well aware that a time penalty handed down to the leader for a start infringement would give him the win.



However, as the clock ticked down, Harry was keen to end his campaign with victory on the road and nipped ahead when Schuring made an error at turn two to take the lead and win number nine of the campaign.



It meant Harry wrapped up a third career championship in fine style to add to his success in the 2019 Ginetta GT4 Supercup and the 2020 Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain.



"I’m absolutely delighted to wrap up the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux title, and to secure a second title in three years racing a Porsche," he said.



"The race win stats might make it appear like it was an easy championship win, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Because we knew we would be missing Barcelona due to the Supercup clash, we had to work extra hard and there was a lot of pressure to maximise our results on the other events.



"There was no margin for error, and credit to the team for their work as they gave me a fantastic car from the first race to the last. Sealing the deal with a double win at Hockenheim was a great way to wrap things up, and I’m pleased to have helped Parker Revs Motorsport to secure a first championship title."
