Reiter Engineering - Debut victory in Michelin le Mans Cup for Hunt /Siljehaug 16.10.2022: In a dramatic race at Portimao Reiter Engineering drivers Mads Siljehaug and Freddie Hunt finally claimed the top step of the podium and ended a great rookie season with P2 in the championship.

In a dramatic race at Portimao Reiter Engineering drivers Mads Siljehaug and Freddie Hunt finally claimed the top step of the podium and ended a great rookie season with P2 in the championship.
 

After two podium finishes at Le Mans and Spa the duo was able to proof its consistent performance over the season with Mads Siljehaug taking the lead in the final minutes of a dramatic, red flag shortened race.



While the race started well for Freddie Hunt, taking up P2 after starting from 3rd position quickly, everyone was set to a hold when a crash during the safety car restart caused a red flag period.



To clear the debris and for repairs to the barriers to be carried out the race was put on a pause for 95 minutes. When the race was finally resumed, Freddie Hunt only had 1 more lap behind the safety car before he handed over the wheel to Mads in what was a perfectly executed pit stop by the crew.



When the race went green with 21 minutes on the clock Mads Siljehaug was challenging for the lead.



After another full course yellow period the race went green again with just under three minutes left. Quickly Mads made a move on the car in front and went into lead. At the chequered flag the no76 Reiter Engineering Ligier-Nissan crossed the line 2.5 seconds ahead. After several Top 5 and two podium finishes in the rookie season for the team, the win was just the perfect ending. This also secured the second place in the overall championship.




In it's first year in the LMP3 field the exeptionally young team (with an average age of 27) has left no doubt that they are already a big contender and more then ever ready to go on the Hunt for LeMans.
