Closing off a rollercoaster season, the Absolute Racing-serviced made a welcome return to the podium with three podium overall positions and two Pro-Am class podium results during the action-packed double-header season finale at Zhuzhou International Circuit.
 


Having struggled to find the perfect set-up in tricky track conditions, BD Group’s Ling Kang qualified in fourth for the first race. Regrettably, any hopes of a second place finish in the championship were cruelly dashed in race one, with Ling Kang’s colliding with an opponent while battling for third place. Eventually he finished the race in eighth position. He would come back in race two to finish second, taking the third place in the drivers' championship standings.
 


An expert on the Zhuzhou circuit, Zhang Zhendong kicked-off his final race meeting of the year with a stunning drive from P16 to P3 in the weekend opener. Recording his best points-scoring weekend of his rookie season, the HEHEHE Racing driver produced one of his best drives of the year to bring the season to a close. He showed excellent race-craft and strong pace to follow up with a second consecutive third place finish.
 


On the other side of the garage, with a double second place finish, Team Shanghai Yonda’s Bao Jinlong took a vice-championship in the Carrera Cup Asia Pro-Am class, a ten shy from the class winner. Bao Jinlong’s teammate Bian Ye rounded off the season with a Top-10 result.
 


Coming through from P15 to break into the top ten in race one, Team Betterlife’s Li Chao scored his best overall result in 2022 with a nine place overall and fourth in the Pro-Am class. The Beijing driver was forced to miss the second encounter of the day due to personal reasons.
 


Absolute Racing-run BD Group finished second in the prestigious Porsche Dealer Trophy.


 
Team Director Fabien Fior said, "Having one driver on the second step of the podium, a car twice in third position, and two additional class podium finishes was a good end to the season. Despite a challenging season, the drivers and the entire team have performed well and professionally. Thank you to all our great partners for the incredible support we've had throughout the season. The focus is on next year and we're really looking forward to that work."






 

#3 Bian Ye (Team Shanghai Yonda): "Thank you to the dealership and team for this season support. I am very happy and cherish the mileage and experience gained this season, and I'm hoping for a better season next year."

 

#6 Bao Jinlong (Team Shanghai Yonda): "This season, I finished second several times. On Saturday's race two I had a chance to win, but unfortunately I failed to seize the opportunity. There were more things this year, and I aim to challenge the class's annual winner again next season."

 

#9 Li Chao (Team Betterlife): "I personally feel good about the last round of the season as it has met my own expectations. Although I missed the last race due to the temporary adjustment of the timetable, I am still quite satisfied overall. Speaking of this season, because there aren't as many races as I expected, I got into a rhythm just in the second half of the season. I'm hoping for more races next year, and I'll try to get a head start."

 



#22 Ling Kang (BD Group): "This weekend, I made mistakes that I should not have made in both races. We didn't finish the season well and were disappointed to have missed the driver's runner-up finish. Thanks to the teams and dealership for their ongoing support, it is a consolation to the season's outcomes to have helped BD Group earn second position in the Porsche Dealer Trophy standings, and I hope to make consistent efforts next year."

 



#233 Zhang Zhendong (HEHEHE Racing): "I'm very happy to be on the podium in both races, as it's the first time I've been on the podium this season. The only disappointment is that race three was canceled. It's a shame that the calendar for this season has changed so frequently.


I was trying to get used to the car in the first half of the season, and then the season ended when I finally got some the feeling. This season, I made some strides. The third place in race one was a bit of luck, but the third place in race two I believe is a kind of explanation for my performance this season."
