Brea Angliss showed fantastic pace, progress and potential as she made her car-racing debut in the Michelin Ginetta Junior Winter Series this past weekend (12/13 November) at Brands Hatch.

The One week on from finishing an impressive eighth in the British Indoor Karting Championship’s Grand Final event, the teenage talent continued to shine as she overcame a number of drivers with more Ginetta experience to record a best result of 12th on two occasions.

With her only previous times behind the wheel of a Ginetta G40 Junior having been on the Blyton Park circuit, some pre-event test sessions on Friday were crucial as she got acquainted with both her Alastair Rushforth Motorsport prepared car and the Brands Hatch Indy circuit for the first time.

After making huge strides forward in her pace across the day, she then overcame tricky, greasy track conditions to finish 16th fastest overall during the opening qualifying session on Saturday morning. She went on to make a great start to race one soon after, gaining two places on the opening lap alone.

Getting right into the thick of the action, Angliss traded places throughout an exciting 15-minute encounter on her way to a 15th place finish. Further progress came in race two as she fought her way up three more positions with some eye-catching overtaking manoeuvres.

Sunday provided a repeat challenge for Angliss to Saturday, with one more qualifying session followed by two races. Finishing up 17th on the timesheets, she once again gained ground in the third race of the weekend as she rounded out the top 15.

The 14-year-old racer saved the best until last as the sun faded on Sunday afternoon. From 17th on the grid, she showed her impressive racecraft once again to battle through the pack and take the chequered flag in 12th position, a result that ensured she’d impressively moved forward from her grid positions in all four races.

Brea Angliss: ’“I’m delighted with how my first weekend in car-racing went. It was such a huge learning experience for me for so many reasons, from learning the circuit for the first time, to working with a new team and getting used to the format of a race weekend.

“The main focus was on keeping my nose out of trouble and learning as much as possible, so it was mission accomplished. I kept getting quicker and more consistent in each race, and was able to get stuck in and make some overtaking moves too.

“I loved every second of it and it’s made me even more determined to get the budget together to go racing full-time next year. Thank you to Rosland Capital for their support in getting me on the grid, and to Alastair Rushforth Motorsport for giving me a great car over the weekend.”

Brea and Blake Angliss are both looking to make the next step in their racing careers in 2023. There are exciting commercial opportunities available to support these two up and coming talents; get in touch to find out more: blake@anglissmotorsport.com.
