The 2023 Iberian Supercars Endurance, which will largely coincide with that of the Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade (CPV), has been confirmed by series organiser Race Ready, starting at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve in May, and coming to an end at Autódromo do Estoril in the end of November. The basis of the regulation is maintained, as well as the tyre supplier, Hankook.
 


"It was a huge challenge, at the beginning of this year, to launch this Iberian Supercars Endurance and the CPV, but we feel rewarded, because the work developed has borne fruit and I believe that today everyone recognises the success achieved, with the decision of the titles postponed to the last round.


For 2023 there will be no relevant changes and the conditions are in place for us, together with the teams, the drivers and our partners in this project, to have an even better and more competitive championship. That is the goal we are focused on,” said Race Ready CEO Diogo Ferrão.
 


The emblematic Vila Real street circuit that continues to gather thousands of spectators - over 40 thousand users followed the races last July on Facebook and Youtube! -, will once again receive the GT4, GTC and TCR cars from the sister series CPV grid.
 


The Iberian Supercars will not go to Vila Real, but to Jerez de La Frontera in Spain. It is therefore possible to compete for two championships by only taking part in five events.
 


There will be no repetition of circuits in both competitions - barring any unforeseen event that may dictate changes to this initial calendar project - which will certainly please both drivers and the respective teams, in a season that has everything to succeed, in terms of competitiveness, given the success of 2022, whose champions in the different groups were only defined in the closing round of the season.
 


The formula of joining cars from the GT4, GTC and TCR classes on the same grid, with each one using a BoP (balance of performance) defined at international level, to ensure the equity of paces, has proven its effectiveness this season and will continue to be, in 2023, the faithful of the scales to ensure a competitive and exciting championship that fills the eyes of the public with dream races, but also competitive, with different leaders throughout the competition.
 


"I am pleased to note the presentation of the 2023 Championship at the last race of this year, after a season in which the success of the formula found for an interesting and competitive competition was evident. The stability of the technical regulations is also key so that both drivers and teams can plan their investments with confidence regarding the future.


As a result, I believe that the conditions will be in place to continue having an interesting championship that will please the drivers and teams in 2023,” said Ni Amorim, president of the Federação Portuguesa de Automobilismo e Karting (FPAK).
