Five Alpine Academy drivers are set to compete at Melbourne’s Albert Park 29.03.2023: .....this weekend as both FIA Formula 2 and FIA Formula 3 race in Australia for the first time. ....this weekend as both FIA Formula 2 and FIA Formula 3 race in Australia for the first time.



Jack Doohan (Invicta Virtuosi Racing) and Victor Martins (ART Grand Prix) will head to Australia for Round 3 of FIA Formula 2, both looking to replicate their podium finishes from Saudi Arabia and continue collecting points in their championship campaigns.



Gabrielle Minì (Hitech), Nikola Tsolov (ART) and Sophia Floersch (PHM Racing) will also join Formula 1 at Melbourne’s Albert Park for Round 2 of FIA Formula 3. Returning to the track after a brief break they will continue to learn about their respective cars and aim to improve on their results from Round 1 of the series in Bahrain.



Jack Doohan, FIA Formula 2: “I’m really looking forward to my home race in Australia, I can’t wait to experience the atmosphere and be surrounded by an Aussie crowd, it’s going to be something really special for me. I really like the look of the circuit, I’ve never raced at Melbourne’s Albert Park, or even in Australia before!


I’m sure it will be a great experience and I can’t wait to get on track, start learning quickly and hopefully get on top of things with the team as soon as possible.”




Victor Martins, FIA Formula 2: “Melbourne is a new track, so there will be plenty of new opportunities ahead, and I’m ready to tackle them all! There has been a lot of work done on the simulator and we have analysed the previous weekends to make sure the team will be fully prepared and keep up our momentum from Jeddah. The goals are clear so let’s push and score some big points!”



Gabriele Mini, FIA Formula 3: “We are heading to Australia for Round 2 in FIA Formula 3. After Round 1 there are lots of positives that we can look at and that we can start working from for the next round. It will be a tricky weekend overall, because of the time difference and because it is a circuit where neither teams nor drivers have raced before.


It won’t be easy but I’m very confident that both myself and the team can do a good job. The key will be to try and gain as much information as possible for both the driving and the setup in Free Practice. Then it will be up to us to make a good job of qualifying to try and start as close to the top as possible and then fight from there in the races”




Nikola Tsolov, FIA Formula 3: “Really excited to go to Melbourne to race! Looks like one of the best tracks on the calendar and the prep we've been doing for it is looking good. It's not going to be easy since it's a high-speed street circuit, but 4 DRS zones will give good opportunities to overtake and an interesting race”



Sophia Floersch, FIA Formula 3: “I am very much looking forward to Australia. I think it will be interesting to see how it will go for everyone because it is a new track in the FIA Formula 3 calendar. On the simulator, the track seems a lot of fun and I cannot wait to get started.


Still, it is important for us to make improvements in understanding the car and the tyres, there are lots of things to focus on but we are hoping to already be a little bit closer to the rest of the pack in Australia.”
