ELLIOTT SADLER – No. 38 M&M’s Fusion (qualified 8th) MATT KENSETH – No. 17 DeWalt Fusion (qualified 19th) – "We’re quite a ways off, I think, speed-wise, and a little bit out of balance, but we just worked on race practice because we weren’t sure what the weather was going to do tomorrow, and didn’t really spend any time on qualifying. We just tried to get our race package right, and I think we did a good job of that. We’ll just have to see what happens tomorrow, but I think we’ll be okay on Sunday." CARL EDWARDS – No. 99 Office Depot Fusion (qualified 25th) – "It wasn’t very good, but that’s what it is and we’ll just go race." MARK MARTIN – No. 6 AAA Fusion (qualified 6th) – "It was a good lap. We were a little bit conservative with our set-up there. We’ve gotten loose here qualifying, so we left her a little too tight and it drove a little tight but it’s going to be a good starting spot. Our car’s been fast since we got here." JAMIE McMURRAY – No. 26 IRWIN Industrial Tools Fusion (qualified 9th) – "We just didn’t have our car very good in practice, and all the guys worked on it. They changed quite a few small things, and it’s just better. We typically don’t go very fast in practice, but we always seem to pick up for qualifying. Don’t really put it on the edge until it’s time to go." HAS THE CHANGING WEATHER BEEN AN ISSUE? WITH THE TRACK BEING CONCRETE, DOES THAT MAKE ADJUSTMENTS EASIER OR HARDER TO MAKE? "It’s easier, because the sun doesn’t affect you so much, but this is a real hard place to get a hold of. This is one of the most challenging racks, I think, that we go to." HOW IMPORTANT WILL IT BE ON SUNDAY TO START NEAR THE FRONT? "Pit selection is big here because it’s so narrow, but I don’t think we’ll be good enough to get a great pit selection. Anytime you can start up front at any of these races, it seems like it’s a benefit." 03.06.2006 / MaP More News
