Newly-announced teams Campos Racing and Hitech Junior are set to bring their considerable racing experience to the Formula Master grid this season.

Formed over a decade ago, in 1998, Campos Racing has competed in several single-seater avenues including the GP2 and GP2 Asia Series, the Spanish Formula 3 Championship and the World Series by Nissan.

The team, headed by former Formula 1 driver Adrian Campos, has won no less than eight titles over the years along with three runner-up and five third-placed finishes. With former drivers including Formula 1 Champion Fernando Alonso, F1 test driver Marc Gené and GP2 Champion Giorgio Pantano, the team's pedigree is recognised throughout Europe.

Campos Racing's 2008 season saw the outfit claim the GP2 Teams' Championship, as well as finishing third in the Drivers' Championship with Luca di Grassi and claiming the Spanish Formula 3 Championship.

"I've always been aware of Formula Master's activities, right from the very beginning," said Campos, who supplied Formula Master's 2007 champion's prize, a GP2 testing session with Campos Racing. "With previous engagements, it wasn't possible to take part in the Series but now things have changed and we are looking forward to competing in Formula Master.

"Everything I have seen so far shows that it's a great series, with a good evolution of the car and the racing format. The 2009 updates on the single-seater should provide great racing and a good challenge for a team with our kind of expertise. It's the perfect step for the drivers we run in F3 before racing in GP2."

David Hayle

British team Hitech Junior was created in 2008 and competed in the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 Championship and the West European Renault Championship, scoring two podium-finishes in their inaugural season.

The team was set up by Hitech Racing Team Principal David Hayle, who took the 2007 title in the British Formula 3 Championship. "It has a good car and a very interesting championship, competing on a good package, racing six times with WTCC and twice with F1," said the team principal who also oversees the Hitech Junior team's operations. "The Formula Master car is similar to an F3 car and so it should be really interesting to work with. I'm really looking forward to it.

"We'll approach this season with the same determination and effort that we approach every season. We have very experienced people including a top engineer from Formula Master who has previously won races. So I'm quietly confident that we can be at the front immediately with a strong driver.

"We'll be looking for race wins, pole position and fastest laps. Obviously we will always try to win the championship, that's normal, but we respect the competition that is already in Formula Master, there are some very good teams and people there."

Both teams are set to appear at the first official Formula Master test, along with fellow newcomers team HBH Racing, in Valencia, Spain on 1-2 March.
