Riegel/Stanton Racing Squad Read for Their 24-Hour Battle at Daytona

 It’s race day at Daytona International Raceway and the No. 65 The #65 Riegel-Stanton/Cystic Fibrosis Foundation/65 Roses/Magnus Racing/Marquis Jet/Resorts International/IPC/Total Lubricants/RSS Road Sport Supply/TRG Porsche presents one of the most talented driver line-ups in the GT field with 2x Rolex 24 race winner, Craig Stanton, American stand-outs John Potter and Bryce Miller along with German Marco Holzer. 

The Riegel/Stanton team has shown to be quick all weekend; Holzer qualified the car on Thursday, when he turned the tenth quickest time of the field at 1.50.445. The #65 squad ran in the top-six throughout the day Friday and are confident the have a quick and consistent car for today’s 24-hour challenge.

John Potter: "I’d say we’ve had a good weekend so far.  We’ve spent a lot of time on making sure we have a solid race-car.  Sometimes it’s hard to prep that way, you always want to make the car as fast as you can, but with a 24-hour race you have to set the car up a little differently.  The goal is a consistent car that will last throughout the challenge, it’s got to be quick, but it must be stable and I am confident we have that.”


Craig Stanton:  "Everyone’s done a great job all weekend.  The team is certainly taking a methodical and prepared approach, which is essential in a race this long.  The car feels great, our engineers have certainly done the homework and we are in great shape.  We’ll need a little luck…everyone will to get through a 24-hour race with 40 or more cars on the track, but we are prepared and we’ve done everything in our power on that front.”

Bryce Miller:  “We have a manageable and predictable car and I feel great going into today’s Rolex 24.  This is a great team, everyone’s worked very well together all weekend and I am excited.  The car could be faster and we know how to do that, but we need it manageable and predictable to get through this kind of race and everyone’s done a great job getting us there.”


Marco Holzer: “I was a little frustrated after qualifying because I knew we had at least a few more tenths (of a second) in the car, but I kept running into traffic.  So, I am optimistic because I know our car is fast but I wish I was able to get that clear run.  At the end of the day, it is a 24-hour race and we are in a good starting position, we have plenty of time to play it smart and work our way to the front in the 65 Roses car!.”
