Thierry Van Den Bosch and Adrien Chareyre took a wet Italian Grand Prix, the first of the 2009 season, in the S1 and S2 class respectively after two hard fought heats.

In the UEM series Dall’Era wrapped up the overall win in the Open class, Kevin Wuerterle won the S3 while Kulev topped the first ever MaxiMoto podium.

S1

At the end of two different motos, with the first starting under mixed weather conditions and the second being fully wet, 747 Motorsport TM Factory Racing’s Thierry Van Den Bosch took the overall victory at his first GP outing with the Italian manufacturer’s support.

The flawless Frenchman kept a hungry Thomas Chareyre behind in the first heat, where the Husqvarna CH Racing Superider kept close to VDB from the start to the flag. In the second wet race Van Den Bosch was caught and passed by other Husqvarna CH Racing man Mauno Hermunen from Finland. The debutant snatched third in heat one courtesy of a last lap move on Lazzarini but a win in the second race handed him the first career podium-second overall.

Chareyre completed the podium but he was slightly disappointed by the third place finish in the final heat.

Rigo Racing Suzuki’s Eddy Seel was right behind the trio dominating the weekend as he placed himself in fourth overall while the Magic Bike Evolution duo Beltrami and Ravaglia rounded off the top six.

After a fourth in heat one HM Honda Racing’s Lazzarini crashed in the final moto and dropped to eighth in the overall.

Winstanley, at his first GP onboard the Motosupplies Husqvarna, crashed in heat one but took a well deserved fifth place in heat two for an eleventh overall.

S2

Reigning S2 World Champion Adrien Chareyre literally dominated the opening round of the 2009 series taking two heat wins for a full score victory. Chareyre stayed out of troubles at the start of heat one when he took the holeshot while Superpole man Iddon and Delepine crashed. The Husqvarna CH Racing Superider pulled away with the lead as he did in the following moto despite a couple of desperate tries by Gozzini.

The latter settled for second in the final moto, improving the first heat result by one place. Overall it was a tough weekend for the 747 Motorsport TM Factory Racing rider who could not get the set up right for his home course.

Accadueo Racing’s Minutilli ended an incredible weekend with his first ever podium finish. The Italian stormed to second in heat one but a crash at the start of heat two hampered his overall result. Though Minutilli managed to recover to sixth and seal the third place overall.

Delepine and a renewed Gaspardone, now riding onboard a KTM, rounded off the top five. The Belgian suffered in heat one due to a crash while he starred a two way battle for third in heat two until rival Gaspardone crashed.

KTM Motoracing’s Iddon brought the bike home in ninth after two difficult races. Heat one was troubled by a first corner crash –involving Delepine as well- while the final heat saw the Brit go down while he was holding a provisional fourth.
