Nach dem durchwachsenen letzten Wochenende in Imola freuen sich die beiden Fahrer des Teams BMW Motorrad Motorsport, Troy Corser und Ruben Xaus, nun auf die nächste WM-Runde am kommenden Wochenende in Magny-Cours.
Zwar hatte Troy Corser in Imola mit Bremsproblemen zu kämpfen, doch werden diese hoffentlich bis zum ersten Training am Freitagnachmittag behoben sein. Ruben Xaus’ starke Leistungen nach der langen Verletzungspause waren mehr als ermutigend, und der Spanier freut sich nun darauf, seine Arbeit mit der neuen Motorenspezifikation fortzusetzen und zu sehen, wie er damit auf dem französischen Kurs zurecht kommt.

Insbesondere vor dem Hintergrund des eher frustrierenden letzten Rennwochenendes freue ich mich jetzt richtig auf Magny-Cours. Ich gehe davon aus, dass das Team die Ursache für die Bremsprobleme herausgefunden hat, so dass ich mich am Freitag gleich von Beginn des Trainings an voll und ganz der Strecke in Magny-Cours widmen kann. Da unser Team noch nie zuvor in Magny-Cours war, steht uns ein harter erster Arbeitstag bevor, und es gilt, möglichst schnell ein gutes Setup fürs Motorrad zu erarbeiten.
Die jüngsten Fortschritte an unserem Motorrad machen das Fahren jetzt wirklich zu einem Vergnügen, und solange wir keine Probleme wie am vergangenen Wochenende haben, können wir sicherlich einen Platz unter den ersten sechs oder sieben einfahren. Zwar kann im Rennsport immer etwas passieren, doch wenn alles in unsere Richtung läuft, sind sogar noch bessere Ergebnisse drin. Wir werden sehen.

Ich war so glücklich, dass ich am vergangenen Wochenende wieder aufs Motorrad steigen und mit meinem Team arbeiten konnte. Meine einzige Sorge in Magny-Cours gilt dem möglicherweise kalten Wetter, denn dann werde mein rechtes Bein sehr gut aufwärmen müssen.
Als ich vergangenes Wochenende auf die BMW S 1000 RR gestiegen bin, kam es mir vor, als handelte es sich um ein neues Motorrad, und nun gilt es für mich, die Entwicklungsschritte nachzuvollziehen und sie zu verstehen, bevor ich wieder so hart fahre, wie ich das gerne möchte.

Zwei Rennen vor Ende der Saison ist es interessant zu sehen, wie Troy und Ruben die vom Team in der jüngsten Zeit geleistete Weiterentwicklung beurteilen. Beide Fahrer haben sich bisher positiv über die Änderungen geäußert, und umso bedauerlicher war es deshalb, dass Bremsprobleme Troy zwei gute Ergebnisse vereitelten. Aber das müssen wir jetzt vergessen, uns auf das kommende Wochenende konzentrieren und wieder loslegen.
Da wir das erste Mal hier auf dieser Strecke sind, bedeutet es wie so oft in dieser Saison wieder eine Portion Zusatzarbeit, doch daran haben wir uns schon einigermaßen gewöhnt. In unserem Motorrad steckt noch viel Potenzial, und wir hoffen, dass sich der Aufwärtstrend fortsetzt und wir in Magny-Cours gute Resultate einfahren.
