14.10.2009: Formula One Drivers are not the only people who have the privilege to scoot through the Swimming pool «S» and the Rascasse corner. Karting’s international Juniors will have a tremendous time this weekend on 17 and 18

Formula One Drivers are not the only people who have the privilege to scoot through the Swimming pool «S» and the Rascasse corner. Karting’s international Juniors will have a tremendous time this weekend on 17 and 18 October 2009 in the streets of Monaco on a circuit marked out between Boulevard Albert 1er and the Harbour as they will indeed compete on a section of the lower part of the track dear to Grand Prix Drivers. It will be the 13th edition of the event which will be completed this year by a race for KZ2 gearbox karts.

There will be 40 Drivers 13 to 15 years old at the start of the «Juniors’ Monaco Grand Prix». And they are all dreaming of victory to add their name to the list of results of the glamorous event  after that of a certain Robert Kubica, double Monte-Carlo winner exactly ten and eleven years ago!

The entry list comprises some the most promising young Drivers on the international scene. The Italian Giuliano Niceta, winner of the CIK-FIA World Cup for KF3 at the beginning of September, will bear No 1 while No 2 has been allocated to the Dutchman Nyck de Vries who is considered as the new wonder of the category and was crowned CIK-FIA European Champion in July.

There will be other Drivers who have been used to play the leading parts throughout the season, such as the Spaniard Carlos Sainz Jr, France’s Pierre Gasly and Pascal Belmaaziz, the Italian Raffaele Marciello, the Russian Sergei Sirotkin, as well as Holland’s Joey Elkerbout and Peter Hoevenaars. This being said, the specific character of any temporary circuit makes it difficult to tip who is going to win, and there could very well be a surprise winner in the Sunday afternoon Final.

After several years of absence, KZ2 gearbox karts will make a noteworthy comeback to the streets of Monaco. In this category also, the 36 strong entry list is enhanced by the participation of a few «great names», including that of Italy’s Alessandro Piccini (Karting World Champion four times over), the Dutchman Bas Lammers (European Champion this year), the Frenchmen Norman Nato, Thomas Mich and Anthony Abbasse, the Swiss Ken Allemann, the German Simon Solgat and the Italian Andrea Benedetti.

Drivers entered in KF3 and KZ2 will represent 18 nations.

The programme of the Monaco Kart Cup will also include a 6-hour endurance race (held over three parts of 2 hours each).
