Representing the new generation of Superiders, French Adrien Chareyre has collected his third World Championship Title at the young age of 23.
The third World Title of Adrien Chareyre came after his maiden Title win in 2007 (S1, 450cc) and the other Title win in 2008 (S2, Open), making the last three years the most successful period of the Frenchman's career. This period also saw Chareyre clinch most of his GP wins including the historic one-one at Andorra in 2007 when Adrien won the S2 and his brother Tomas the S1.
Currently Chareyre is now second in the all time classification of GP winners, behind 2009 S1 World Champion Van Den Bosch.
ADRIEN CHAREYRE'S CAREER IN THE FIM SUPERMOTO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
After approaching Motocross -Adrien Chareyre even raced the FIM Junior World Championship in 1999 against the likes of Strijbos, Rattray and Stewart- a young Chareyre debuted in the FIM SuperMoto World Championship in 2003, one year after the FIM series was established.
Due to an injury, that year Chareyre entered only his home GP in Marseille, taking seventh in heat one, fourth in heat two and again fourth in the Superfinal. SuperMoto bastion Marcel Seurat had discovered another talent.
His first full season in the FIM SuperMoto World Championship was hit by the pass away of Mr. Seurat in mid April 2004. Chareyre kept going to make full display of what he had been taught and sealed a fifth place in the S2 Championship with his maiden podium in Spain.
In the meantime the SIMA Team's guidance passed in the hands of Ms. Jeannine Seurat, who was hosting both Adrien and Thomas Chareyre in her house at that time.
2005 was an even better year for Adrien Chareyre, coming close to the S2 World Title which he lost to Chambon by just three points. Chareyre's maiden GP win in the final round at Latina proved how much the youngster tried to clinch the Title during that hard fought season of SuperMoto racing.
In 2006 Adrien Chareyre had to face on of his biggest career challenges, in the likes of the battle with SuperMoto idol Thierry Van Den Bosch. With both being from France, the season was a dogfight which included also other Frenchman and former World Champion Giraudo. Chareyre pulled off a home win at Villars but ended third in the Championship behind VDB and Giraudo, both on Aprilia.
Three full seasons of top level racing had made Chareyre an even stronger rider, now combining talent and experience. In 2007 Adrien was as consistent as ever, always making it into the top five and scoring points at every round of the series now being inside the works Husqvarna team.
Two GP wins and four podium finishes highlighted Chareyre's run for the maiden World Title which ended at the last GP of the season in Greece. Being 21 at that time, Adrien Chareyre set the record of youngest SuperMoto World Champion. That season's form was displayed also at the FIM SuperMoto of Nations win alongside France team mates Van Den Bosch and Thomas Chareyre.
After Chareyre completed the mission of winning a Title in the 450cc class for Husqvarna, the manufacturer Chareyre has been riding with since his GP debut, he was given the task to win also in the Open class alongside other works rider and two time World Champion Delepine.
As the Belgian struggled throughout 2008, Chareyre was his consistent self and managed to snatch the red plate from early leader Gozzini at the third GP of the season, by claiming his first overall win. The two started a dogfight for the World Crown and dominated the whole season, pulling away from the rest of the field. The Greek showdown, which Chareyre entered with an 11 point advantage, was as hard fought as the rest of the season. Taking the overall at Thessaloniki, Chareyre impressed again and took his maiden S2 World Title.
That Title had a special value for Chareyre. After dedicating the 2007 crown to his mentor Mr. Seurat, the 2008 Title was dedicated to Ms. Seurat, who had passed away that year.
2009 started again with the dogfight Chareyre vs Gozzini but this time out the Frenchman pulled off a stunning season. Adrien dominated the first two GP's and continued winning until Andorra as he dropped down to third in Greece. Ottobiano marked Chareyre's victorious comeback but the Title was not secured by just four points. Despite stalling the bike in heat one of the final GP in Salou, Chareyre sealed his third World Title at the end of the first heat already.
Having reached Van Den Bosch's previous tally of three World Titles, Adrien Chareyre now aims at equaling and eventually beating his French countryman.
