•    Set up of the G-MOTO CHALLENGE (Malles moto) & HISTORIC ADVENTURE

•    Omsk (Siberia/Russia) – Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia), 10 stages including 1 marathon stage

•    Appropriate sanitary measures

NEW FOR 2021

In order to help bikers who would like to participate in the Silk Way Rally at a lower cost, the organizers have decided to set up the G-MOTO CHALLENGE (malle moto). This category, limited to the first 15 competitors registered, is reserved for amateur riders only, who are not part of the FIM priority list or the ASO Elite list who enter without any assistance.

Transport there and back of the motorbike or quad from Paris, transport of a trunk, a set of 2 wheels and 2 tyres, provision of sleeping equipment, access to a reserved area on each bivouac, equipped with all the necessary tools are the services included in this package, in addition to those already included with the rally bike entry.

Registration on April 21 until June 1.

On the Silk Way Rally 2021 there is also the possibility for 15 or so vehicles to take part in the Tiger Historic Adventure, a regularity rally for cross-country cars and trucks manufactured up until 2000.

Entries are open until 15 May

The only marathon rally of the season that is both a round of the FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Rallies and FIM Cross-Country Rallies World Championship, the Silk Way Rally offers 10 stages, one of which is marathon (for all categories), 3300 km of special out of a total of about 5400 km (before final reconnaissance), all without a rest day.

The Silk Way Rally will end on July 11 in the capital of Mongolia - Ulaanbaatar, the coldest capital in the world, but with warm-hearted locals.

They are known to be welcoming and attentive to everyone who comes to the main city of Mongolia. Almost half of the inhabitants of this country live in Ulaanbaatar which is the only capital in the world where real nomads still live today.

The Silk Way Rally is more than a rally! The 2021 rally promises to become a challenging and fascinating adventure for world class riders, drivers and beginners alike.

From the Russian Taiga to the Altai mountains, through the immensity of the steppes, to the Mongolian dunes, it is a mosaic of landscapes that awaits the competitors of the Silk Way Rally this summer.

After Irkutsk in 2019, this time, it is the city of Omsk that will host the administrative checks and scrutineering and the start podium of the Silk Way Rally 2021 for 2 days. Then, competitors will set off for two legs in the heart of Eastern Siberia and the Russian Taiga where the driving will be intense, before tackling the Altaï, its mountainous landscapes and its more technical tracks for the last leg in Russia.

Change of country and change of scenery from the 4th leg, that will be the first of the seventh stages run in Mongolia. Competitors will discover the Country of the Blue Sky, on a route where road sections will be shorter and special stages longer, “alternating” between the mountains, lakes, vast steppes and sand dunes.

Between navigation, driving, crossings, fast and technical tracks, all the ingredients of cross-country will be present in the desert immensity of the country of Genghis Khan.

In the context of the current COVID-19 pandemic, the organisers of the international Silk Way Rally are working on a range of sanitary protocols and procedures necessary to ensure the successful running of the event.

Measures designed to prevent and eliminate the risk of propagation of COVID-19 include: PCR test for all rally participants and organisers, regularly taking of body temperature, compulsory wearing of masks, regular washing of hands, respect of social distancing, separation of flows of competitors and organisers. The organisational structure will be adapted to these new conditions.

In addition, a compulsory contacts research procedure will be introduced and a package of measures will be developed to guarantee the isolation of people if they are suspected of being unwell.

The start and finish ceremony formats, as well as press conferences, will also be modified.

The event will be run conforming strictly to directives and regulations approved by Rospotrebnadzor (*) and local health authorities, as well as FIA and FIM recommendations.

Luc Alphand, Sporting Director

"After a difficult year for everybody, where the opportunities to escape from everyday life have been rare, the Silk Way Rally will offer the freedom and adventure that we all miss so much. The rally will be like an oxygen bubble for all the competitors and participants.

After a first visit to Mongolia in 2019 which delighted the competitors, Mongolia will again be the star of this edition, but on a different route, running from west to east and discovering new regions. This route will be more balanced between mountains, steppes and sand dunes. I’m sure that it will a fantastic race that the competitors will greatly enjoy.
