Singapore Airshow 2016: French Pavilion exhibits record number of companies 13.02.2016: At the Singapore Airshow due to take place 16-21 February, the French aerospace

At the Singapore Airshow due to take place 16-21 February, the French aerospace industry association Gifas will host almost 60 French companies presenting their know-how in the French Pavilion. Never before have so many companies participated in the French Pavilion at an airshow outside France. The exhibitors include prime contractors, equipment manufacturers, SMEs and maintenance specialists.


“The Singapore Airshow is the leading aviation event in South-East Asia. This year, France is the feature country, an accolade which few countries are eligible for. I am particularly proud to help boost the influence of French industry by bringing a delegation of more than sixty small, medium and intermediate-sized enterprises” stated Marwan Lahoud, Chairman of GIFAS.


The fact that the French aerospace industry is so well represented is evidence of the strong ties between Singapore and France. Gifas members have their sights set on long-term cooperation with partners in Singapore. More than 2,000 employees work for subsidiaries of French aerospace companies in the country.


Singapore has established itself as the leading aerospace maintenance and repair centre in Asia and a key industrial hub. The French aerospace industry is a key partner, and both countries have innovation as their primary motivation.


GIFAS will hold a press conference on February 16th at the Singapore Airshow at 4 pm (Room 4). Marwan Lahoud will tackle the drivers of the boom of French companies in the area.

French aerospace and defence manufacturers – the majority of which are members of Gifas, the organizer of the Paris Air Show – generate revenues of almost €51 billion (82% in exports) and are keen to invest in fast expanding markets.


Gifas, with 366 members representing the entire French aerospace industry, is regularly approached at major international exhibitions, and as such is the best vehicle for showcasing the country's industrial and technological expertise to key international decision-makers.
