Sochi Q&A with Jordan King

Sochi Q&A with Jordan King

05.10.2015: ”….I feel confident that I can get a good result and fight for the podium.”

”….I feel confident that I can get a good result and fight for the podium.”

After scoring points in three of the last four GP2 races including an excellent second place in the Spa Sprint Race Jordan King will be making his racing debut at the Sochi Autodrom this weekend.

Below Jordan looks forward to the race and explains how he has spent his time during the five week break in the GP2 calendar.

It’s been a while since the last GP2 race in Monza, where you drove fantastically in the feature race to finish in 8th. Are you looking forward to getting behind the steering wheel again?

After spending the day on the simulator getting ready for Sochi I am very much looking forward to the weekend, the track looks like a great one and there should be some good racing there.

What have you done in order to stay fit since the last races?

I had a bit of a holiday where I had a week off, but I also have a half marathon coming up soon so I have been keeping fit by training for that.

This will be your first time to race in Sochi. But you proved this season already that you are a quick learner. How do you prepare for such a case?

Well, there are a lot of things to take on board so it is important to take the time to learn a wider range of things before focusing on the small details, but really my preparation doesn’t change much from each weekend.

Plenty of long straights, relatively flat curbs and one or two key overtaking zones characterize the Sochi circuit. What will you have to especially pay attention to?

I think it is a very technical circuit so you have to focus on driving the car well with your feet as there are lots of medium speed corners. For the long straight you will need to make sure you get a good exit for the extra mph down the straight.

We would like to see you fighting for a podium again. Do you think we will see you pick up a trophy again during the Russian GP2 event?

For the first race it will be tough as I carry over a penalty from Monza but I feel confident that I can get a good result and fight for the podium in race 1 and definitely in race 2.
