Countdown to Speedcar debut continues in Dubai
|
Following the successful Speedcar exhibition event at the Bahrain International Circuit two weeks ago, organisers bring the teams, drivers and cars to the Dubai Autodrome on Friday, November 16, and Saturday, November 17.
This weekend Speedcar makes a thundering start on its home circuit. A white-knuckle debut demonstration by the Dubai-based series will feature at the Motorsport Festival at the Autodrome on Friday, November 16th and Saturday, November17th.
As if the roar of the V8 650 bhp engines wasn’t enough, the driving talent taking the wheel is stellar. Former F1 stars, rally champions and stockcar whizzes form the Speedcar dream team. To name a few, there is Jean Alesi, Johnny Herbert, Gianni Morbidelli, Ukyo Katayama, Stefan Johansson and local favourite Sheik Hasher Al Maktoum.
Off-track, they will be joining drivers from the FIA GT3 European Championship, Formula Campus Renault and national racers and motorcycle riders for a number of special autograph sessions as part of the Motorsport Festival, giving visitors the chance to take home a distinctive souvenir.
The Speedcar racing season takes to the grid in 2008. This weekend however, petrolheads can get a spectacular impression at just what to expect from the 5 races over the Middle East and Asia between January and April next year, with a feast of high-speed overtaking, full-on cornering and a selection of the very best tyre-smoking doughnuts.
The Speedcar Series pits seasoned professional against talented amateur in identical stock cars that have no electronic aids. It will all come down to driving skill - and there is sure to be a lot of it at the Motorsport festival.
