Last Chance For Fans To Join Sir Jack Brabham BRDC Memorial

14.10.2014: Motor racing fans still have the unique chance to join the Sir Jack Brabham Memorial

Motor racing fans still have the unique chance to join the Sir Jack Brabham Memorial event, hosted by the BRDC and organised by son David Brabham, at the Silverstone Wing from 2pm on Friday 24 October.

Those wishing to attend must register for a ticket by this Friday, 17 October by contacting Deborah Jennings at or call 01327 850 925.

The event is shaping up to be a fitting celebration of the triple Formula 1 World Champion’s remarkable life and outstanding contribution to motorsport, held in support of Kidney Research UK, with valued backing from Honda, Arbuthnot Latham and G.H. Mumm Champagne.

Renowned F1 designer Gordon Murray, whose pioneering Brabham cars won 22 Grands Prix and two Drivers’ titles with Nelson Piquet in 1981 and 1983, will be joining Sir Stirling Moss, Sir Frank Williams, Sir Jackie Stewart, John Surtees, Tony Brooks and Nick Goozée on stage to share their memories of the legendary driver and engineer.

Those attending the event will have the opportunity to donate to Kidney Research UK in Sir Jack’s memory, while anyone can make a contribution to the charity via the official Just Giving page

Paul Oz, official licensed artist to James Hunt, Bruce Lee, Star Trek, Denis the Menace, Ali, Mr Men and Little Miss, and Thunderbirds, who has also created commissioned work for the Instituto Ayrton Senna and Jenson Button among many others, has also pledged his support to the event. His stunning portrait of Sir Jack will be on display and Paul will be selling official prints of the masterpiece to help raise funds for Kidney Research UK.

Paul commented: “The Sir Jack Brabham portrait was created for my Singapore gallery show over the Formula 1 race week, I thought with poignant timing. With the high Australian contingent out there for the F1, it turned out more fitting than I’d ever have thought. It’s a privilege to be able to celebrate the life of a motorsport legend with what I do – but an absolute honour to be invited by David to be part of the memorial.”

The Sir Jack Brabham Memorial has been made possible thanks to support from Honda, who powered Sir Jack to 12 out of 15 Formula 2 race wins while sealing the F1 and F2 titles in the same iconic year of 1966; Brabham’s private bankers Arbuthnot Latham; and Formula One Management, through its partnership with G.H. Mumm Champagne.

David Brabham commented:
“We are getting closer to what will be a fantastic event at Silverstone celebrating my father’s amazing career. Jack was instrumental to so many drivers, engineers and fans in the UK that this special event gives people the opportunity to come and pay their respects to a remarkable man at a racetrack he loved and did so well at.

I would like to thank the BRDC and Silverstone for helping to organise and host the event, plus I do look forward to listening to the stories his compatriots will share with us.”
