Project Brabham Community Votes To Extend Crowdfunding Phase

31.10.2014: The Project Brabham community has unanimously voted to continue the crowdfunding

The Project Brabham community has unanimously voted to continue the crowdfunding campaign to resurrect the iconic Brabham Racing team for another two weeks. The first phase of David Brabham’s new model for sustainable motorsport was due to conclude this Saturday, but will now continue until midnight (PST) on Saturday 15 November.

Project Brabham put the important decision to its rapidly growing community, which currently stands at over 2,000 people from 58 countries, following feedback received and the recommendation from Indiegogo to consider a campaign extension. In the given 24-hour period, a resounding 97.88 per cent of 851 participants voted for Project Brabham to keep pushing towards and past its initial fundraising target of £250,000.

With a staggering 94 per cent of that first target already achieved, the campaign extension will allow Project Brabham to pursue further opportunities to grow the crowdfunding total, including the planned release of a significant news story next week.

Fans across the globe have embraced the model for open source racing which promises openness and transparency, giving fans unprecedented behind-the-scenes access while inspiring drivers and engineers across the globe through the Brabham-Digital immersive online portal.

The concept and resulting global media coverage has also attracted enquiries from a number of corporate companies and brands expressing a desire to support the new Brabham Racing team. With the extension, Project Brabham will now be able to explore the idea of introducing a corporate package based upon hospitality and/or team building experiences.

David, the son of triple Formula 1 World Champion Sir Jack who is driving the historic team’s return with a vision for sustainable motorsport, commented: “I’m already staggered by the clear dedication and support of the community we’ve built so far.

“We’ve had some potentially interesting opportunities arise in what was going to be our last week of crowdfunding and to us it made sense to follow the advice of Indiegogo and extend the campaign. But, as we have said from the start, we want people to join Brabham Racing and collaborate in the team’s development, so we asked our community to take the vote and their decision is clear.

“The initial stage of Project Brabham has focused on building our community from the ground up. The next step was always about funding Brabham Racing through larger investment. We will probably only have one chance to use a donation-based crowdfunding model like we are currently operating and, now with the community’s backing, we hope to be able to reach a wider audience while still in the crowdfunding phase.”

The extension is good news for fans still searching for the ideal Christmas gift for that someone special, with the Brabham Christmas Gift Box pre-order period also extended. To view the exclusive perks only available through the Project Brabham crowdfunding phase, including three-year subscriptions to any one of the Brabham-Digital online experiences and unique race event and hospitality experiences, visit the Indiegogo crowdfunding page
