Dominguez Gets the Experience of a Lifetime: PCM Champ Car driver Mario Dominguez was a guest of the Royal Canadian Air force in Cold Lake, Alberta on Thursday. Dominguez met Captain Paul "Squish" Umrysh earlier this year at the Rexall Grand Prix of Edmonton when Dominguez gave the pilot a ride in the F1 2-Seater. Captain Squish returned the favor and offered Dominguez the opportunity to ride in the CF-18 Hornet.
A lifelong dream for Dominguez, he jumped at the opportunity. Dominguez traveled to Alberta, Canada on Tuesday. Similar to race cars, Dominguez completed a seat fitting on Wednesday, followed by a medical and gear fitting.
Thursday was the big day, Dominguez spent 1.5 hours in the C19 Hornet, "riding with "Squish" in the CF-18 was unbelievable, after take-off he broke the sound barrier almost immediately, the we entered a simulated Dog Fight. He did several maneuvers, one after the other, he is a phenomenal pilot and I will never forget this experience," said Dominguez.
Jr Team Tests: US Race Tronics, the Atlantic team in PCM’s JR Team stable, completed a test at Buttonwillow Racetrack on Thursday. The team announced last month that American stand-out, Carl Skerlong will return to fight for the 2008 title, "It felt great to get back in the car before the new year, we had a good test and I cannot wait for 2008," commented Skerlong.
Frankie Muniz also tested with the California-based US Race Tronics team. Heading into his sophomore season, Muniz is evaluating options for next year; it was his first test with the US Race Tronics team, "it was an awesome experience," said Muniz.
"I learned so much, the car felt great, we ran 200 miles without an issue. I am excited to announce my plans for 2008 in the coming weeks."
