Luxembourg-based team Racing Experience is preparing for their first experience of the iconic La Sarthe circuit at the Road to Le Mans event this week.
 


The most anticipated race of the season, the Road to Le Mans is the third round of the Michelin Le Mans Cup and the official support event of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
 


David Hauser once again steps into the no. 11 Norma M30 LMP3 car, partnering Nicolas Melin, who replaces Charlie Martin for the double-header event. No stranger to the La Sarthe circuit, Melin is experienced in a wide variety of prototype categories including Le Mans Cup and the ELMS. He will make his third consecutive start at the Road to Le Mans, having competed in the race in 2017 and 2018. 
 


The Road to Le Mans features two races of approximately one hour each; the first on June 13 and the second on June 15 before the start of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The full season Michelin Le Mans Cup entry will be joined by other LMP3 and GT3 cars from around the world to make it the largest grid on the 2019 Michelin Le Mans Cup calendar.
 


Attended by over 250,000 people each year and watched by fans all around the globe, the 24 Hours of Le Mans is regarded as the biggest weekend on the motorsports calendar, making the Road to Le Mans an important opportunity for racing teams and drivers to showcase their skill. The circuit is also the fastest of the season with drivers reaching speeds of up to 290kph.
 



Christian Hauser, Racing Experience team principal said: “This week is an important milestone for our team as we prepare to race on the most iconic circuit in the world. We will have the biggest grid of the year at the Road to Le Mans, so our priority will be to focus on our race strategy, stay out of trouble and of course enjoy some great racing. We welcome Nicolas to our team for this race. He is very experienced in prototype racing and we look forward to seeing what he and David can achieve together.”
 




David Hauser, Racing Experience driver said: “This is going to be the first time I will race at Le Mans. To drive on the same tarmac as many icons that have gone before us will be an incredible feeling. With a length of more than 13km and a provisional lap time close to 4 minutes, the main challenge in qualifying will be to connect all your best sectors in one lap. 


During the race, the challenge will be the slipstream battles on the long straight lines and to avoid any mistakes because if you need to lift, not only one but probably four or five competitors could overtake you. I am really looking forward to one of the most challenging and exciting races of my career”
 



Nicolas Melin, Racing Experience driver said: “I’m looking forward to returning to competing in the Road to Le Mans event for the third time. This race is like no other on the calendar and it is a great opportunity for every driver to test their skill in one of the most competitive races of the year, in front of some of the most passionate race fans who have travelled from all over the world.


I’m pleased to be partnering David at Racing Experience and my focus will be on learning as much as I can and delivering a solid performance for the team.”
 









Race one of the Road to Le Mans will kick off on June 13 at 17:30 local time.
