Buemi battles to seventh in qualifying

28.04.2007: Buemi battles to seventh in qualifying

Round 11: A1GP Great Britain -

A1 Team Switzerland qualified seventh for the sprint race as Sebastien Buemi fought his way up the grid on the Brands Hatch circuit.

Buemi's aggregate time was 2.30.119s which means he will start the sprint race from seventh place tomorrow. A1 Team Switzerland also finished a strong seventh place in the morning warm up session.

Buemi explains: "In the morning, my engineer Franck Funke and I were making some strong progress. We were on old tyres and the team has changed a few things on the car like the springs and we now know where we are and how well the car can perform. It was tough for qualifying. I was unlucky and never really had a clear lap with

Lebanon and Holland in my way, in the first outing. In the third we changed a few settings and then my last outing was good." Buemi set his personal best times in the third and fourth runs (respectively 1.15.342 and 1.14.777) with an aggregate lap time of 2.30.119.

Buemi commented, "I am a bit disappointed from this position in qualifying. I was hoping for better. The car changed a lot between the sessions, and the tyres weren't as good. The start will be interesting tomorrow and while the track is not very wide here, we have an advantage because we will be on the inside line. I'm aiming to climb up at the start tomorrow and take it from there."

Max Welti, team principal, A1 Team Switzerland commented, "Buemi was a bit unlucky today, but the car is in good shape for tomorrow. We learned a lot from all the sessions and the qualifying too. The race should be promising and we're determined to finish the season on a high note."
