Tough Day for Walker Racing in Final Half of Edmonton Doubleheader

It was a bittersweet day for Walker Racing drivers, Kevin Lacroix (#25 Uni-Select/Deans Knight Capital Management Ltd.), Leo Mansell (#15 Sunseeker), and Greg Mansell (#5 Sunseeker). The second half of the Atlantic Championship doubleheader in Edmonton was filled with ups and downs for the team.
Showing promise and speed, Lacroix had a good start, gained a position on the restart and continued to outpace those behind him, maintaining sixth position for most of the race. As the clock wound down, the 20-year old kept up the pace, but on the last lap he lost a position to Markus Niemela, finishing the same place that he qualified, seventh.
Today was very disappointing for Brit Greg Mansell who had a solid start from thirteenth, but on the first lap got collected by Simona De Silvestro, damaging his front nose. The 20-year old had to come in and replace it, losing positions as a result. Then, with seventeen minutes to go, he retired early due to issues with the front suspension.
Like his brother, Greg, Leo Mansell also had an unsatisfactory day. The 23-year old had a good start, gained two positions, but on lap twenty-six had to come in. The right rear shear plates broke and Leo’s day was cut short.

Derrick Walker, Walker Racing Owner: "I expected better, quite frankly. I thought we had made significant improvements in the car that we would have done better, but with incidents and probably too much under-steer with Kevin’s car, unfortunately, this would be the final result.
Overall 7th is the best we could come away with. As always, we put just as much in with P7 as we do a race win, so good job by the crew. They really did a great job. Unfortunately, seventh is seventh when it is all said and done and, obviously, we need to find some more speed here."
Kevin Lacroix (No. 25 Uni-Select/ Deans Knight Capital Management/Wasteco): "I think we had a good day overall. I had an okay start, didn’t lose any positions and then on the restart I gained a position. Then everyone in front pulled away from me and I was fighting with the people behind. Unfortunately, on the last lap I made a mistake and lost a position, but the car was okay and finishing 7th is okay, but it's not great.
At least we came away with points. I want to say thank you to Walker Racing and my sponsors, Uni-Select/Deans Knight Capital Management/ and Wasteco. Hopefully, I can bring everyone home a better result in Road America."
