The Super Nova duo returned to Bahrain International Circuit this week for the 6th and final round of the 2008 – 2009 GP2 Asia Series.

In hot desert conditions the Super Nova drivers quickly proved that they are capable of setting quick times. Javier ran new tyres to start and was provisionally 6th on the grid before returning to the pit lane for minor changes. He returned to the track to complete a total of 10 laps and remained amongst the quickest, qualifying an admirable 9th position. Meanwhile team-mate James started well on the first set of tyres and after this first run was a very commendable 7th place. Unfortunately James struggled to find a balance on the second set of tyres and could only qualify 14th.

James Jakes
“The session didn’t start too badly, I didn’t manage to put the laps together on first set of tyres but I was hoping I could do it on the second. Still struggled to get a good feeling with the car but hopefully we can work on things for tomorrow and get into the top eight for the Sunday race.”

Javier Villa
“After the practice I thought that we could push more but then it was a very hard qualifying. Not bad, we did P9, five tenths lower than pole. We know where we can have the time so I think that tomorrow we can push pretty hard.”

Team Principal David Sears
was pleased with the qualifying session and with our proven race pace we hope to have both cars in point scoring positions for the race tomorrow.
