Erfolgreicher Test des neuen A1GP-Boliden in Imola

Das neue A1GP-Auto ist einem weiteren Test unterzogen worden, diesmal im "Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari" in Imola. Wie Ende Mai in Fiorano sass der Ferrari Testfahrer Andrea Bertolini am Lenkrad des gelb lackierten Boliden, mit dem die Teams, angeführt vom Titelverteidiger Schweiz, im September in Mugello die vierte Saison des Nationen-Weltcups des Motorsports aufnehmen werden.

Nach den zweitägigen Versuchsfahrten in Imola, den ersten ausserhalb der Ferrari-Teststrecke in Fiorano, fiel das Feedback des 35-jährigen Andrea Bertolini, seit acht Jahren erfolgreicher Teilnehmer an der FIA-GT-Meisterschaft, durchaus positiv aus. Eine entsprechend erfreuliche Zwischenbilanz zog John Wickham, der A1GP General Manager Technical and Operations:

"Wir haben nun rund 900 Testkilometer hinter uns", sagte der Engländer. "Bis jetzt ist alles recht gut verlaufen, obschon wir wegen teilweise ungünstigen Wetters in Fiorano mit unserm Programm leicht in Verzug geraten sind. Die Performance und die Zuverlässigkeit des Autos sind gut. Der Fahrer lobte die Balance des Wagens und die Effzienz der Reifen -- sowohl auf trockener als auch auf nasser Piste."

Das am 11. Oktober 2007 angekündigte Projekt "A1GP Car Powered by Ferrari" ist auf sechseinhalb Jahre ausgelegt. Das Chassis des Autos basiert auf dem in der Formel 1 überaus erfolgreichen Ferrari F2004 und wird in Bognor Regis(England) gebaut. John Travis, dem A1GP Technical Director, steht der ehemalige Ferrari-Chefdesigner Rory Byrne als Berater zur Seite; Byrne fungiert hier als Ferrari-Projektleiter.

Der Block des V8-Motors stammt vom Ferrari F430, der in der serienmässigen Ausführung 490 PS und in der getunten Rennversion rund 600 PS leistet. Produziert wird das Aggregat bei Ferrari unter der Aufsicht von Jean- Jacques His. Angesichts all dieser Verknüpfungen mit dem berühmten italienischen Hersteller und dessen Rennstall wurde dem A1GP-Auto bereits der Kosename "Ferrarina" (der kleine Ferrari) verpasst.

Ab 16. Juni folgen nun fünf weitere Testtage in Südspanien auf der erst kürzlich eröffneten Anlage in Guadix bei Granada. Die 3 km lange Strecke unweit der nördlichen Ausläufer der Sierre Nevada erfüllt alle Anforderungen an ein Versuchsgelände dank einer Mischung von schnellen und langsamen Kurven mit unterschiedlichen Radien und einer 750 m langen Geraden.

Die offiziellen Vorsaison-Tests mit allen Teams finden vom 18. bis 20. August in Silverstone und am 17./18. September in Mugello statt, wo am 21. September die Saison beginnen wird.
